Great All Purpose Lens
Posted by Phil1950 on July 1, 2019
I recently bought this lens to have a lightweight all purpose lens to go with my Z7. I usually us my 24-120 F type, but this is a great lens when you want to travel light. Optically it is sharp corner to corner and the IBIS makes it easy to handhold for longer exposures.

Strong start out of the gate!
Posted by Orion on July 1, 2019
This lens is an extremely sharp, lightweight, and well-constructed member of the Nikkor z family, Easy to use and certainly as versatile as any kit lens I´ve ever used. I transitioned from the d7200, on which my walkaround lens was the 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED. This lens is, without question, better than the 16-80mm, and given the kit price ($500) a much better bargain to boot. No complaints here!

Nikkor Z 24-70 f/4 S
Posted by Pasthegorrila on July 1, 2019
at first the f4 on this lens didn´t impress me, I was used to a f2.8 on my D-4. I quickly realized this lens was plenty fast for all my shooting. With the sensitivity of the Z-7´s sensor low light is not a problem. the lens is lite, sharp and quick focusing. a great little package!

Extremely sharp and lightweight
Posted by etcher on July 1, 2019
Before I bought the Z6 with 24-70 F4 kit, I tried one out at a local park. I deliberately underexposed in order to see the quality when I brought the exposure and shadows up in post. I was very pleased with the sharpness of the lens and knew I would be going that route as soon as I sold my D750. The light weight made it easy to carry all day and I don´t worry about quality of the photos with this lens.

Great travel and walk-around lens
Posted by jackarm on July 1, 2019
I have history with both the 24-70mm f/2.8 and the 24-120mm f/4 for both travel and walk-around shooting. I bought the Z 7 with this lens for a lighter package without compromising quality. I am completely satisfied. The lens performs way beyond expectation at f/4 and stopped down it is incredible. One should not use the term ´´Kit Lens´´ when referring to the S series. My travel kit is now Z 7 with this lens, FTZ adapter and 20mm f/1.8G plus 70-200mm f/4G. I know that Nikon is going to make an S series f/2.8 Trinity but I plan on evolving into the lighter f/4 equivalents. The sensor performance of the Z 7 makes up for the decrease in aperture.

Very versatile lens
Posted by Kell on July 1, 2019
I´m very happy with the lens, sharp across a broad spectrum from flower petals and bees to distant mountain tops and glaciers. Images are sharp from corner to corner. The lens has improved my photography in few short months.

Might be the only lens you need for the Z series
Posted by Lawrose on July 1, 2019
I use this lens on my Z6. It is just one of those special lenses that produce exceptionally sharp, colorful and almost 3-D like results. Low light in all but the darkest situations is not a problem, and although I also have and use the Z 35mm f/1.8 S, it´s not necessary to switch to that for low light in all but subjects like dark rides at Disneyland, and similar very dark scenes. Even there, the Z 24-70mm f4 S will capture a surprising degree of light, due to the Z6 sensor technology and the IBIS, I can only assume, and the lens construction which does not compromise the result when shot wide open. A word about shallow depth of field and the wide, or even very wide, aperture some folks think they need. Unless you have a specific use for a shallow depth of field, shallow depth of field is not a virtue by itself. I find for 95% of my photography I would rather shoot at f/4.0 or above. Nothing is more irritating than finding only part of my area of interest is in focus and when I do use f/2.8 zooms, or f/1.8 primes, I try to take extra care to make sure all of what I am seeing, and the reason for the photo, will actually be in focus. That has especially been my issue with nifty fifty 1.4 primes, for sure, which are better stopped down a bit anyway. But this lens seems to roll it all into one. It may be the only lens you will ever need on Z cameras.

A great combination
Posted by Mar73 on July 1, 2019
At first I thought the f4 lens would be slower than desired. I was wrong. Given the 5 stops of image stabilization and low light performance in the Z7, this is a perfect lens combination. Light weight and sharp. Only thing it can´t do is produce a very shallow depth of field.

Sharp and crisp lens
Posted by DanC on July 1, 2019
This lens replaced a non-Nikkor 24-70/2.8 lens which was substantially heavier and more expensive than this S lens. In my informal tests I find the Nikon much sharper and has much more contrast. In addition, and one of my reasons for moving to a Z camera, the lens is very compact and light weight. I am very, very pleased with this purchase.
