Z f

The Nikon Z f has continued to delight and surprise me! I bought it 17 mo. ago for the retro looks and to try Z glass. I found it versatile and performant in unexpected ways.. thinking it would be a fun "almost EDC" camera for family, street, portraits. It is. BUT... after adding a grip, I found it has the ability to shoot sports hand held in challenging light with exceptional focus speed (high school basketball) using some awesome Z telephoto glass (primarily NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S). My "hit" rate on keepers increased 3X, and I am also truly happy with the ability to grab some short video highlights. The skinny... the Z f is not just good looking, it can easily adapt and give you super-high quality results in unexpected ways. It has opened a new world to awesome full frame Z glass (esp S-line). And it now has me dreaming about a Z8/Z9 to join it in my camera bag. :)

An amazing camera!I’m totally happy with my experience using the Nikon Zf. It’s a vintage-style camera packed with all the capabilities of a modern one.I’m not a professional photographer, and I don’t take photos for a living — but I’ve been into photography for over 20 years. If your goal is to capture travel memories, family moments, or time with friends, this camera is simply awesome.It’s fun, intuitive, and delivers beautiful results. Highly recommended!

Great camera. Love the size and the performance is awesome. Image quality is great and it allows for many modes of operation depending on your photo requirements.

This camera is amazing! It is super simple to use and that is great for a beginner like myself.

The Zf has far exceeded my expectations and has packed a lot of higher end features in a reasonably price package. I've used it for both travel and product photography and it has excelled in each. The subject tracking is phenomenal and the dynamic range capabilities make it a useful tool in a wide range of shooting situations. I did add the Small Rig grip to help with the ergonomics when using larger lenses on long days. This camera has been the perfect compliment to my other Z cameras for work use, but is also a joy to carry for casual shooting. Of course the old school film camera vibe makes me smile every time I pick it up.

I put myself through college (mid to late '70's) working at a studio back in the film days. That's where I learned photography and I used mostly medium and large format. I learned then that the more you can do in camera the less work you have to do in the darkroom and this camera lets you do a lot in camera. I use mostly exposure manipulation and ISO control, both of which are accessible without going into a menu. I'm coming from Olympus/OM Systems and they are great cameras but I simply get more keepers with the Fz. I use the 24-120 f4S most of the time but also have the olderAF-s 18-35 with adapter and will add a105 macro shortly. This camera reminds me so much of my old F3's and it really did feel familiar right away. I do use a grip on the camera exclusively and that makes life easier and doesn't add any appreciable weight. Thanks Nikon for a great camera.

Nikon Zf replaced my D750 as my main camera. The controls force you to slow down and think when shooting which I really enjoy. I find the camera easy to travel with, especially when paired with 40mm f2. Autofocus is top notch and manual focusing is a joy. I wish the camera was a bit smaller and came with a small thumb bump in the back, it would make it easier to hold. I almost exclusively use the camera with a Neewer grip. My other gripe is the fully articulating screen. I mainly use the camera for photography. How hard would it be to offer different screen styles as an option that can be configured during purchase. Despite these shortcomings I love shooting with Zf. The specs are perfect for what I need. I will only replace it if Nikon makes a replacement with a tilting screen or full frame rangefinder camera.

Beautiful just beautiful. The looks, the build, and the photos. I love how Nikon packed it with features and specs and didn't just put out a good looking camera. Great work designing this piece of art.

Outstanding piece of gear. You can get award winning shots right out of the box prior to the learning curve! I paired it with the Nikkor 24-120, and have yet to take a bad shot. I shot with Canon for many years, but Nikon has beat them hands down in image quality etc. I also, having been owner of an FM-2 and FM-3A in years past, LOVE that Nikon brought the vintage look and feel back to a modern mirrorless!! Bravo Nikon, and thank you for the joy this will bring me to shoot with it! :)
