Wow, Wow, Wow. Sorry to repeat it but, ithere,s a reason. This lens is perfect for his price. Very deep depth of field professionals. I am very happy for his price. It's sure if you want the best is 35mm s zikkor mount, but for the difference you will be happy with this one. 35mm 1.4 z mount

A Very Different Type of 35 mm prime lens.

I purchased this lens shortly after it was first introduced, so I didn't get it on sale. Now that the tariffs on imported camera equipment are taking effect, I am glad I paid what I did because now, the lens costs even more.I've been shooting Nikon cameras for close to 40 years, and I was tempted to buy the 35 mm f1.8 S version of the lens. While that version is a slower lens, it is rated as the sharper of the two being offered by Nikon. Despite that, I'd read about and used the f1.4 version and liked the "soft and creamy" images I was getting out of the camera (I use a Z9 and at the time, a Zf, that I've since traded to buy the Z6III). The images one gets from this lens are much more reminiscent of my film days back in the 1970s, 80s and 90s and that was the main reason I opted for this lens vs. the slightly slower f1.8 version.Another thing I immediately appreciated about the 35 mm f1.4 is that even before the tariffs were implemented, this lens was less costly to purchase than the f1.8 S version. While both of these lenses are primes, the 35 mm lens is not my primary lens for everyday use on either the Z6III or Z9. Instead, the 35 mm f1.4 is a lens I use for street photography, landscapes when weather conditions coincide that allow me to go for a more ethereal look. As an added bonus, I really like the Bokeh I get when using this lens.I really like this lens and for me, getting another f1.8 S lens with a 35 mm focal length didn't make sense. I chose this version because it is NOT the sharpest of the Z prime lenses and because it isn't, it allows me to get less than insanely sharp images that I find more appealing to the eye, especially when the lighting and weather combine to offer me unique compositional opportunities.

A fast and compact lens that takes perfectly adequate snaps in near darkness... Great fun for enthusiasts at an affordable price.
