So glad I updated. It was worth the wait.

This is the my first upgrade since buying a D800 back in 2013. What an amazing jump in technology, features, and image quality over that time. Spent a recent day out shooting a rowing regatta in not the best of conditions. I came away with nearly every shot useable, the only focus issue I had was with rowers that were close to 900' away. Once they would get past me and the camera could see a face, even at that distance it would immediately lock focus on a face and track. I was absolutely blown away.Image quality was amazing as well. Crystal clear even using an older 70-200mm with the FTZ adapter. I look forward to getting the latest version of that lens to work with this camera body.

    Superb dream come true

Posted by Marian Kraus on March 20, 2023

Coming from the F5, in the 90's, and then over the years working with the D100, D2, D2H, D2X, D2Xs, D7000, D3, Z7, Z7II, the Z9 has become a dream come true for me. The pinnacle of a long line of superb cameras. I am aware that I am utilizing only a portion of its wide range of capabilities for the type of work I do professionally, however, that already is a pure joy. Excited to discover more of its capacities, in particular with video, and awaiting software updates that will bring us more tools to create visual magic.

    Worthy Pro Flagship Camera

Posted by Thomas Leach on March 19, 2023

This is a professional flagship camera and you would expect it to be great. It is; not only that I continue to find small things that really improve my game for action sports. The focusing options available and overall programability really helps. I can quickly customize it for my needs on any given shoot. This allows me to work efficiently and not miss a shot.

    50 years of NIkons

Posted by Ron Swenson on March 18, 2023

I bought my first Nikon in 1973 - an F2 - and never turned back. Five camera bodies and countless images later the Z9 arrived, and I couldn't be more pleased. It's ability to focus in extremely low light is uncanny. The mirrorless design required a new lens mount, but with an adapter, I still use some of my old exceptionally good glass in manual mode. Over time, I guess that a migration to all Z-mount lenses will be required. Disappointing that one needs to buy / carry / attach accessory gear for a remote shutter release. The body is heavy, but fits well into my larger hands and one gets used to it. The ability to program most of the buttons to my most commonly used settings makes adapting to a changing environment pretty quick and easy, although there is a learning curve. It's an investment, but worth it.

Yes!! Mirrorless w/very good battery life and very good autofocus for Wildlife!

Posted by Dean Johnson on March 18, 2023

Love it! Have A d750, d850, Z7,Z7II and the z9 is for sure better overall. Focus is much improved for willdlife which what I primarily shoot! Some don't like the large camera body while I personally prefer it as it just feels right in my hand. Battery life is great but it should be given the size of it! Also loe the screen that covers the sensor !! Shooting outside 100% of the time I am grateful for better sensor protection.

    Fantastic Technology & Incredible Results

    Posted by D A on March 18, 2023

The level of technology is incredible in this camera. The speed of focus, eye detection & tracking, and many focusing options and settings just scratch the surface of technology but mean the most to me as a photographer of birds in flight and other action. Beyond the focusing options, the level of customization is fantastic for banks of several settings to jump between or a menu structure allowing changes to specific settings quickly. The Z9 is the camera where I’m drawing the line on ever thinking of buying the next better camera. I’ll enjoy getting more on terms with this wonder and it’s capabilities.

    This Camera is Next Level

Posted by Roberto Canali on February 26, 2023

I come from about 15 years of shooting Nikon Cameras, I owned 9 different models starting from the D60 to the Z9. I have always loved each camera upgrade and always thought "OMG, this one is so much better than...."After 3 years of shooting photojournalism with my trusty Z6 (which became an incredible camera after firmware 3.0 and then 3.4) I got around to trying the Z9 - and that was it! I couldn't let it go.There is so much to this camera I won't even try to begin to praise every feature I like about it - from the focusing speed and accuracy to the video quality and overall ergonomics... This camera is a feature of engineering! However what I love the most is how customizable it is which in turn made my workflow so much faster, delivering fully processed stills in half the time I used to.Definitely a jewel in my kit!
