    Awesome Camera

Posted by Mike Craft on August 6, 2023

Really awesome camera! This has just recently been added to my group of cameras, D700, D810, D850, Z6ll all with battery grips. This is smaller and lighter than all of them in size. I have found shooting with the Z9 a real pleasure and amazingly fast AF for a lot of the sports I shoot. The layout is extremely easy to adjust too from all the other Nikons. I’m still working on learning all the hidden features it offers. I plan on using this for a very long time and look forward to exploring all it has to offer me 4.0 upgrade was great and hope more will come in the future.

Not much that I want to change with the Nikon Z9 other than maybe making it medium format lol. I have over 13+ years of experience in the media world as a professional photographer.

    Big jump from my D500

Posted by MICHAEL BERCHAK on July 22, 2023

Just got it and started using it. Its a major jump up from my D500 so I have a lot to learn and get used to. It seems to be able to get me closer and I figure that more time and experience will close that gap even more. I like it and Im glad I got it.

Great engineering 2nd tier autofocus. Has difficulty capturing and holding subject in busy environments. Nikon would be well served to improve 4 things: A/F better than Sony. 2. Zebras for exposure control and have it and the histogram based on the NEF file. 3. Weight - Develop a lighter battery and lenes for those that are handheld shooters 4. Manufactured quality had to send it back after 7 months because the grip material was peeling off. I also have a Z8 and it is under recall and had to return a Z 70-200 f2.8 because it was soft. I've been shooting Nikon since 1968 and never had problems like this not to mention the lead time for delivery. That being said service is great.

    Z9 in the rainforest

Posted by Randall Ortega on June 27, 2023

I had this camera for about a year now. I have been using Nikon gear for 2 decades and yes D850 was or still is the absolute best camera for stills. But now after a year and photographing mostly landscapes and wildlife in the real-world scenario of Costa Rican jungles and extremely high humidity where both Canon and Sony have failed over and over on my face Z9 has never glick or ruined the moment. Many of the negative comments I read were about focus. Gladly I know how to fix that with the tip of my fingers. Many also complained about the weight, if you are so concerned about it get an iPhone. Capturing Quetzals of flight frozen on the perfect moment with a lizard on its beak, for a Z9 is no problem at all, red-eyed leaf frogs in the rainforest with macro lenses piece of cake. Capturing lighting and the milky or a hungry wild river otters eating a fish is another easy job. As I said earlier been there and done pretty much from northern Canada to African deserts and of course my birthplace Costa Rica. Z9 has accomplished every single task. I just updated its new firmware I can't wait to see what it does. Randall Ortega Chaves-Costa Rica
