Another Awesome Camera from Nikon!
Posted by MARK MCKEOWN on June 14, 2023
It's a superb camera! It fixes things I didn't love about my Z7 - primarily the black screen when shooting action shots, higher burst frame rates, and a second card slot.It keeps a smaller body size, which is great. The option of having a battery grip is perfect. I don't usually need one so not having it built into the camera body is better for me. What I'm not crazy about - the second card slot being SD. SD cards are so slow, writing to them while you're shooting with raw files this large is just slowing the camera down and you lose the advantage of the CFX slot. I would like to have a second CFX slot but I know there's a size issue there so it's a tradeoff.

Fantastic addition to the Nikon Mirrorless line of cameras!
Posted by Mike Flanagan on June 14, 2023
I was very surprised when I got the call that a Z8 had arrived for me at my local Nikon dealership, Mike's Camera. The camera's capabilities are amazing and it will take a while to get used to all the features. Fortunately, due to the similarities to the Z9, there are many very experienced users, that have refined their use of the Z9. Hudson Henry is one of the best at sharing his skills and knowledge and efficiency with the setup of all of the options. We have a couple of Hummingbirds in our back yard, and the C30, C60, and C120 imaging with the Pre-Record Buffer are such a useful feature that is so well designed and useful. I've also used the C30 to catch squirrels as they jump across a large gap in the backyard. The Z8 is larger and heavier than my Z7 and Z50, but not so much that it is a burden to use.

Z8 is near perfect!
Posted by Robert Timmel on June 14, 2023
As Z7 & Z7ii user I really appreciate the size and incredible improvement in autofocus on my new Z8! Do still hope that Nikon will continue to improve autofocus on the Z7ii even if it never can approach the level found on Z8 & Z9.

Long story short, I've been a photographer for 30 years and I've never liked a camera as much as I've liked this camera and I wasn't too excited to buy it, it was a gratifying surprise.

Must Have For Professionals

Everything about the Z8 makes this camera an absolute must-have for any full-time pro. Best Nikon I have had my hands on since the D850.

All-Around Champ

Would have preferred two CFexpress slots, but overall find this to be absolutely vital equipment. Ergonomics are great. Weight is acceptable. AF speed is breathtaking.

Z8 taking Photography to the next level or higher!
Posted by CAREY NUSSBAUM on June 14, 2023
Phenomenal Camera! Definitely the best camera I have ever owned and I have owned many! The Auto focus is brilliant ! The frame rate is Fabulous! The size is perfect for my large hands and very comfortable to hold with a weight that won't wear you down! Price can't be beat ! I have heard battery life isn't as good as the Z9 but I think its excellent and for less than half the price of a Z9 battery I can buy a second battery and swap them out if needed or buy the optional vertical grip which holds two batteries with hot swap if I really need it! Low light performance is very good for a high megapixels sensor but being spoiled with the low light capabilities of my Z6ii if anything that I would like to see improved is the noise if that is even possible. The noise is by far not bad and most of the time close to the Z6ii and maybe I am just pixel peaking!

Nikon nailed it!! Great Specs Great Form Factor
Posted by Waldemar Mozes on June 14, 2023
It's been a decade since my last camera body purchase. I never quite found the right combination of technical specs, use cases, and ease of workflow to cause me to want to upgrade. Until now. When I started reading pre-release expected reviews and how close the Z8 was to a Z9, I was intrigued. On the morning of the release, when I skimmed through the main features I was looking for, it became obvious that this was the mirrorless Nikon worth upgrading for. Shooting photos and videos now for the last month, all my expectations have been blown away. The people with whom I've shared my work are super impressed by the quality of the shots. After dropping $4K, I was expecting a little "buyer's remorse" within a couple of weeks, but I have not felt this good about a Nikon purchase since I first unboxed by old N8008. Kudos to Nikon for taking a risk with these Z9-cannibalizing features in a body built for enthusiasts!!
