    Powerhouse without the weight!

Posted by Pam Jensen on November 6, 2023

Very thankful that this camera is not as heavy as the Z9 or D850. I needed a second camera for portrait work and it needed to have as much professional power as a Z9. I often have to carry the Z9 on monopod and need to grab a second to snap fast closeups. However, I physically can't hold much weight in one hand to do so. The Z8 meets my needs perfectly. I love it for portraiture work. Being I don't shoot in a studio and lugging around gear is exhausting. Minimizing weight is important. I have not even used all the features the Z8 provides. Doubtful I will add a battery grip to it.

    Buy This Camera!!

Posted by Paul Garrett on November 5, 2023

You should buy this camera!! However, please learn how to set it up before taking it out for a test run. The menu setup is more complex the DSLR Nikon cameras; like my D850.

    Great Switch from D850!

Posted by Dave Monroe on November 5, 2023

Easy to move from the D850; same basic layout but with improvements. A bit smaller and definitely lighter especially when paired with Z lenses. The FTZ II adapter also is very effective with my F-mount lenses. I like the larger diameter Z-mount on the camera.

Coming from a Z7 to this is as big a shift as when I went from the D750 to the Z7. The autofocus modes, accuracy, and speed is an incredible improvement (especially with kids!)Weight isn't really a factor for me sine the Z7 was already very light. Ergonomics are GREATLY improved for me, now that my pinky has a place to live when gripping the camera.

The Z8 is a sturdy workhorse with a professional feel.

Posted by James Castanzo on November 3, 2023

I've been an amature photographer for decades. I went mirrorless when the Z6 was introduced, then to the Z7II. The Z8 will hopefully be my last camera. I do mostly nature and landscapes but I've started to pal around with wildlife shooters and the bug bit to do more of that. This camera has exactly what I was looking for to shoot wildlife AND still trek around the countyside shooting nature. I'm still refining my settings but getting close to have those locked down. It is a sturdy workhorse of a camera with a professional feel.

Making of the new creator after my D800E

Posted by odd lie on November 3, 2023

Z8 is a fast, reliable and has a smart autofocus making the cration of photo of a action or a large panorama easy, supports excelent the old F mount with adapter and the smart placement of the iso button compared to the D800 series give a fast vay to be in manual mode and change iso as you want to see the final photo in the camera and love the fast posiblity to take action of people and animals, where the focus follow in a great way.

    I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN

Posted by Tom Stilwell on November 3, 2023

The Mirrorless I have been waiting for. I have owned a number of Nikon film cameras and several Digital ones as well. I have kept up to date on new releases and read many reviews. Still not being convinced that Mirrorless was the way that I wanted to go. I visited my favorite local retailer and took a look at the Z8. All I can say is that I could not put it down. i purchased it on the spot. And am very happy that I did.

    Z9 in a smaller package

Posted by jim wilson on November 3, 2023

Very happy with this camera. I also have a Z9 and and this camera shoots just as well (birds and nature, mostly what i do). Wish it had the bird detect of the Z9, but not a deal killer. Lighter weight is a big plus.

    A Fantastic Professional Camera

Posted by John Zogaria on November 2, 2023

As a professional photographer for 20 years. I've owned each generation of Nikon gear, from film days to digital. Along the way, Nikon's cameras and lenses have been first rate, not only in technical specifications, but in ergonomics. The Z9 and Z8 are my main cameras. The auto focus, picture quality, and ergonomics are perfection. When you add the incredible quality of Z lenses, it just doesn't get any better. The Z8 pretty much gives you a Z9, but at a fantastic price. The lighter weight is another plus. Either camera wins as "the best" available!
