    Love it

Replaced my D500. I was looking forward to an upgrade of camera and glass. I did both. The Z8 delivers the performance I was looking for and more. As an amateur photographer this camera provides a lot of space for advancement of my skills. Looking forward to first photo safari next year.

    Finally!

Posted by James Walsh on June 15, 2023

Nikon was a little slow to the mirrorless world, but the Z9 clearly put them in the arms race. Now with the Z8 they have a full line up. More importantly, when combined with the S glass it makes a compelling case for Nikon regaining top dog status. There's really nothing not to like about the Z8. Auto focus is amazing, sensor output is extremely clean even at higher ISO values and handling is back to the D850 tank-like build. Nice job Nikon!

    A little dissapointed

Posted by Peter Bollmann on June 15, 2023

I'm a little dissaponted with the AF performance..there is so much hype about how great the AF is on this camera..perhaps there is something wrong with my Z8. I have the original Z6,,which was a great camera but the AF was certainly not up to par.I was so excited after all was said about the Z8 AF system that I purchased it as soon as it came out. I'm still getting familiar with all the AF settings but the camera struggles with the initial locking on to the subject,,,once it's locked on it does stick like glue.. I have had several Pro bodies and still shoot with my D5, which never dissapoints..Hopefully I can get my Z8 dialed in to a level that lives up to its reputation..

    Love the Z8

Posted by Bill Edgerton on June 15, 2023

I absolutely love this camera! It has improved my photography over the Z6, which was replaced by the 8. The autofocus down to bird's eye has allowed me to capture subjects with improved clarity. I don't personally find the camera heavy or hard to hold quite the opposite as it fits my style perfectly. I also have a Z7ii so the learning curve was minimal, just more selections and adjustments, which is part of the joy of photgraphy.

My D850 in a Z camera I can afford and a size I can manage - outstanding feature set - hits all my photography needs - Autofocus is incredible. This is truly a camera that will serve me well into the future!

    Z8 - Hot stuff!

Posted by Alan Housel on June 15, 2023

Super Fast! I’ve been pleased with my first batch of images with the 200-500mm @ f5.6. (Wide open) I’ve been getting very sharp results with the FTZ II. Only drawback is that now I want to buy a bunch of Nikkor Z lenses. If you plan on shooting all day long on a consistent basis, you may want to get the Z9, instead. I like the size and weight of the Z8, so I can live with the smaller batteries. Overall, exactly what I wanted, thanks Nikon!

    Nikon has done it again!

Posted by Barry Braunstein on June 15, 2023

I've been using my D850 since it was announced and it was the best Nikon camera I've ever owned (I started with an FTN many years ago). I thought it would be hard for Nikon to improve on it, but they have. The Z8 now takes that crown. Fast, a bit lighter/smaller than the D850 and yet still feels great in the hand (one of the things I love most about Nikon is the ergonomics - it just feels right!). And the files are gorgeous! What do I wish for? Better explanation of how to set up the camera - yes, I know it's new and there are plenty of 3rd party videos, books/tutorials out there (and it continues to grow) but the documentation could be a bit more comprehensive. But they're not alone in this regard. Have now switched entirely to mirrorless and loving it - and the Z lenses are better than the F mount. Nikon has done it again!

    A Worthy `sibling' to the Z9!

Posted by Norman Solomon on June 15, 2023

Excellent camera-a worthy `sibling' to the Z9 and successor to the Z72.. Great resolution and ease of use.A couple of suggestions:1. Restore the exposure delay Custom setting (yes, the self timer can be used instead but having the delay timer in the menu is a bit more straightforward)2. It would help if Nikon makes further efforts to provide information to vendors so that aftermarket equipment - such as the L bracket-became available at roughly the same time as the camera launch.Thank You!
