I traded down to the Z8 and haven't looked back.

Posted by Chuck Estes on December 10, 2023

So okay I'll be the odd man out here... I had the Z9 and it just didn't feel natural in my hands. I moved from the D850 to the Z9 and just loved the D850. So the Z8 is a perfect fit for me all the brains and brawn of the Z9 with have the frame and weight. It checks all my boxes. The one thing I loved about the top of the line Z series is that so much can and is changed with just a free firmware update.. This is unheard of until now. Because I came from the D850 I have many of the "F" series glass so the need for the FTZ II was also needed and the Z8 doesn't seem hampered by its use. I'm very happy with my choice and this will be my go to for some time..

I like the feel of the Z8 in my hand. took some pictures with it. I am new to Nikon. I am a canon ma, but I think I am going to switch to the Nikon cameras and lens. I also bought the z 6ii and I am in love with it. got really great flying and perching shots with my new Nikon 180-600mm lens.

I traded in my D780, D7500, and D90 to purchase the Z8. It's been well worth it!

    So far so good

Posted by Gorman Findley on December 9, 2023

So Far So good. Owned for 2 weeks and its operated as expected during that time. Very fast focus and super high fps. Still getting used to the placement of the buttons that are different from my D500. Miss the visual view of some buttons that are now under menus.

The D850's Kid Brother--With a Few New Tricks Up His Sleeve!

Posted by Sam Ratcliffe on December 8, 2023

So far, I'm very impressed. I've owned many Nikon DSLR models as well as the Z50 and Z6II. I kept one of my D850's because I love the camera and have a closet full of F-mount Nikkors. (I also have a few Z-mont lenses.) The Z8 has been a great experience so far. I think I can trust this AF system, I never bonded with the Z6II's AF system except using single point. (And, I tried.) The form factor of the Z8 is just right for me, and I have been pleasantly surprised that using it beside the D850 has been a much better experience than I expected. I was accustomed to using two D850's, and the Z8 has easily taken the place of the second D850. I think this one is a keeper! Highly recommended!

This is an incredible piece of hardware, well worth every penny, and just getting started!

Posted by Dean Palmer on December 6, 2023

I'm a Nikon shooter from as far back as 1983, pro and hobby both, and have owned a variety of film cameras and digital cameras, currently the Z7 and Z8. Still using a mix of legacy (Ai-S) glass and the latest Z series lenses. Going to the Z8 from the Z7 was a pretty big jump when talking about the features, and truth be told I may never use most of the functions as the capabilities are staggering. Definite improvement in the autofocus, and from what I've shot so far is amazing. That said, autofocus was not really anything I cared about, but it's nice to have. The tracking is amazing, and virtually flawless when used for pet photos with a moving subject. I'm impressed. Most of the menus and functions to get started were intuitive as I've used Nikon forever, but I clearly need to spend some time with the manual and configuration videos to really get into the capabilities. THIS is the camera I expected when I bought my Z7 immediately upon release!

    Stills and Video are Sharp

Posted by Reed Scharman on December 6, 2023

I have used my Z8 for both photos and video and am very impressed with the results. Rapid focus helped me capture pelicans feeding on the surf at sun and the video captured great audio and the bright red of Santa at a Christmas concert.

    D850 & Z7ll upgrade to a Z8

Posted by Rick Cady on December 5, 2023

I was wanting to replace my Nikon 850. I traded in other equipment to purchase a Z9. I had a Z7II and a number of people suggested that I look at the Z8. They were right-on.

Very Big Improvement Over The Z7

Posted by Robert Nelson on December 3, 2023

I have only had the Z8 for a short time, but so far it seems like a very good upgrade from my three year old Z7. It's ability to focus quickly is much better than the Z7. Plus I find that the color results coming from Lightroom are excellent. At this point I would say my only negative is the extra size and weight compared to the Z7 and also especially my Z50. So far the Z8 is a five star camera for me.
