    Wonderful Camera

Posted by Anonymous on October 27, 2023

Great Camera. Nikon outdid themselves with this Camera. Just the right size and weight. I have a D850 that I have used for years that I loved . One of the best cameras ever made. This Camera is a mirrorless version of the D 850. Still getting used to the mirrorless functions of the Camera. Love how the viewfinder lights up and all the adjustments you make on the camera show up in the picture on the Viewfinder. I can see all my settings in the viewfinder including a histogram. I have a Z 9 that I purchased before the z-8 came out. I thought it was a little big and heavy. Purchased the z 8 . As soon as I got it I knew it was the perfect camera. Does everything the z 9 can but in a smaller lighter body. Some people complain about the battery being smaller than the z 9. I find its no problem just carrying and extra battery. The z 9 has the larger battery but it can be bulky. I mostly shoot birds and wildlife. Love the z8 .

    Like the D850 but better

Posted by Anonymous on October 22, 2023

I avoided the z7 and subsequent models because I felt the cameras were lacking. The z8 is an awesome camera, feels like the 850 but has a few more tricks! Pros: The stabilization even with older lenses is on point and I felt completely comfortable shooting 1/10 handheld. The ergonomics: feels like a Nikon and buttons are easy to find.Low light and metering: shoots like the 850, works great and the AF doesn't huntViewfinder: haven't tried the 120hz, but love that I can see how settings directly affect the output on the spot.Cons: I was honestly hoping the z8 would be a 50-60mp beast. They perfected the 45 though.

    Z8 a longterm beast

Posted by Anonymous on October 21, 2023

Coming from a Z6 I wanted a camera body that I won't have to change and have the capability to anything and concentrate on good quality lens. The Z8 deliver in every way and more. It's a total beast and I don't think I would need to change this camera for the next 10 to 15 years. Very happy with the Z System and the Z8 is truly the Mirrorless version of the epic D850.

    Better than I hoped

I am loving this camera and I haven’t hardly started. I’m not technical but I like results. 500 + photos in and I will no longer be able to be insulted when someone comments “ you must have a good camera”. Yes, sheepishly, I do. The Z8 has exceeded my expectations.

The Gear Evolves and the Learning Never Stops

Posted by Anonymous on October 5, 2023

Transitioned from the D850 to Z8, thought I would keep the 850 for a backup but after two weeks with the Z8 the 850 was not an option...it's like getting a new guitar that is amazing to play and all the other guitars are now just taking up space...the hardest adjustment to a mirrorless camera for me was not being able to compose a shot without turning on the camera...the battery life was a concern until talking to another pro who said he just turns off the camera between setups or as he changes locations, it made a huge difference...after owning the camera for several months and capturing 5000 plus images ranging from wildlife, landscapes, shift focus closeups, merged bracketed heavy contrast scenes, light painting, milky way, Prerelease exposure tests and a video extreme closeup of a hummingbird perched on a branch about seven feet away, I have nothing but good things to say and the images to back them up...I have watched several tutorials on Youtube and consulted the manual many times to try a grasp as much as I can about the capabilities of the camera...I am over 70 and worked as a Camera/DP for forty years...the gear evolves and the learning never stops.

Even better than I could have imagined

Posted by Anonymous on October 2, 2023

Only had my Z8 two weeks but could not be happier. I mainly photograph wildlife and the fast focus makes a huge difference. I am still experimenting with the various settings knowing that I will be able to accomplish so much more with this camera. Not one thing I do not like about this camera.
