Best in its category to me!
Posted by Francisco S-L on February 27, 2025
After a very long time considering whether I really needed another camera (I didn't), I ended up caving and purchased a brand new Nikon Z8 shortly after buying the Z 24-120 f4 (I meant to buy the lens alone... but it was quickly followed bu this body). I have used Nikon film and dSLRs for the last 25 years so the leap to mirrorless was gradual. However, I don't regret it and use both types of cameras with joy. That said, this is the one closest to my D850. I'm still new to it but since I've been following this product since it launching, watched videos and read reviews, I feel as if I already know it. Granted, it'`s heftier than my other Z body (the Z6ii) but then, its weight makes it stable (no chance of shaky hands with it!). The resolution, colors, menu and layout feel very familiar. In less than 24 after purchase (thanks to Amazon's very quick shipping) I had customized My Menu fairly close to how I have it in my other Nikon digital bodies. What's there to say? I have been using Nikon SLRs and only four years ago decided to give mirrorless cameras a try by way of the Z5 (with the basic Z 24-70 f4). I was hooked! However, the Z5, compared to my D700, D800 and D850, was still below par, so I purchased a Z6II (the two card slots were the decisive factor). Since I have large hands, I had to add a grip to my other Z body, but this one is large enough and won't need it. I'm mighty glad it uses the same type of card and batteries as my other cameras because it makes life easy. In short, I postponed my purchase but don't regret having finally pulled the trigger on it.

A high end Nikon mirrorless camera improved autofocus technology
Posted by DR. JYOTI N. S. on February 21, 2025
Typical high end Nikon camera with better technology especially the autofocus options and stacked CMOS processor. The camera is loaded with functions. However, Nikon's menu setting is not quite user's friendly. Nikon could have included menu setting guide weblink or CD for the users. Additionally, Nikon should include pugging pins compatible for 120V (north American) and 240V (Asian) plug systems. It will be convenient for Nikon Z8 users to charge the battery while traveling. Nikon can hike up the price by another $10 for adding the accessory. The customer who is paying over $3K for a camera will not mind pay extra $$ for the convenience.

A little large but okay otherwise.
Posted by TG on February 16, 2025
Excellent so far. Only complaint is I wish that it would have been slightly smaller.I have added vertical grips to my D300, D500, D810 and Z7II.However, this thing is too huge to add a vertical grip to.I would have gone to the Z9 except I can't stomach $200 batteries, considering that i've got a dozen or so for my other cameras.

Simply amazing. This camera is so configurable, you can go from pro portrait, to fast moving wildlife bursts with 1 button. Love it.

My experience with the Nikon Z8
Posted by ”Doc” on February 3, 2025
I have been a Nikon user for over 50 years and I love them. That being said, I purchased a Z9 when it first came out and I wasn’t disappointed. The only issue I had with it was the weight, I’m not “young” anymore and it just became too much for me for extended shoots. I reluctantly sold it and purchased a Z8 and found it to be the perfect solution. I love the Nikon Z8 and I don’t feel like I sacrificed anything by going doing so, it is perfect! I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a professional camera without the extra weight. Thank you Nikon, the Z8 is perfect!
