Expensive but worth every Penny!
Posted by Bruce Leventhal on May 11, 2021
The 70-200 f/2.8S is the sharpest zoom lens that I have ever owned. The lens maintains great sharpness and micro contrast at f/2.8 and at f/4. When shot with the matching 1.4x converter, the lens continues to perform as if there was not converter in place. I thought that the F-mount 70-200 f/2.8FLE was sharp and contrasty, but I find the new Z-mount lens to be even better. The AF performance w/ the Z6II was even better than expected. When paired w/ version II bodies AF is snappy and precise.

Nikkor Z Lenses are Simply the Best!
Posted by Gregory Stais on May 11, 2021
My Nikkor Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lens is by far the best telephoto zoom Nikon has ever produced! It is incredibly sharp and far supassses the F-Mount 'E' version of this lens.I have been shooting NIkon for over 50 years, and now with the new Z cameras and lenses, I will remain a loyal NIkon fan.

Tack sharp. Constantly amazed in post at how crisp and clear it is at all focal lengths.

superior functionality, versatility, and image quality
Posted by Wayne Wong on May 11, 2021
I use the 70-200 f:2.8S on my Z50 and Z7II, with amd without teleconverters, 1.4x and 2.0x. Primary use is event photography at church tent services, baby dedications, and special events, such as National Day of Prayer at the Liberty Bell outside in Bakersfield, CA. Secondary use: waterfowl, flowers, veterans events. The lens is frequently paired with my 70-200mm f/2.8 S lens, which is swapped between the Z50 and Z7II/battery grip. Outstanding image quality in low light. Very well balanced with both bodies. Much better than any of the recent G series 70-200E and predecessors. Image stabilization not a problem with either Z50 or Z7II. I am turning 71, so I appreciate well-balanced functional lens and body combinations with mininal weight. Programmable functions help on Z cameras, ZII battery grip, and this lens make a big difference. Lens with 2x teleconverter is noticeably heavier than 1.4x. Tolerable, but tires me much sooner.

Professional quality & craftsmanship. The image quality is outstanding! Crisp details and spot on colors. The bokeh is beautiful! After one use, the cost of this lens is self explanatory!

Continues Nikon's excellent line of 70-200mm f/2.8 zooms
Posted by Dean Gibson on October 30, 2020
What more is there to say? I think this is like the fifth Nikon 70 (or 80) to 200mm f/2.8 zoom I've owned, & they've all been excellent. Only comment: Nikon should start making their tripod feet Arca-Swiss compatible, so you don't have to buy a replacement foot.

I've owned five versions of this lens, dating back to the early 1990s, & they are all excellent.
