Was not impressed at first, but now I love it !

    Posted by Dannym101 on October 21, 2019

I have been a full time pro photographer for over 40 years with formal training in photography.
I have had many Nikon 35mm film and DSLRs over the years. The Z6 with out a doubt has the best over all skin tones and image quality of any of the DSLR I have owned. The D810s and D850s have more detail for very large prints and critical commercial sessions because fo there larger file size,
but this little Z6 is really outstanding.
    A few things I like,
Small and light weight, relative to D810s and the like.
Excellent skin tones and over all image quality!!
Eye lever viewing is very good.
File size is plenty large enough for most of my commercial and portrait sessions.
Tracking for action sports is good.
11 frames per second for action is handy.
Face recognition and picking out the closest eye for pin point focusing is top notch! Handy when photographing a large volume of portraits.
    Feels good in my hand.
Video quality is very very good, 422 10 bit 4k Pro Rez into an external recorder. This gets very clean great color smoothness with a very good dynamic range.
Also Dose really good right into the camera card
Touch screen focus in video and still modes.
    Problems I have had.
The major problem I had was with getting to understand the menu. I didn´t use the Z6 much at first because of this.
Camera cards are a bit expensive, but are very fast and I have seen a new card i believe up to 1 TB
My early troubles with the Z6 was the menu was a little hard to figure out so i didn´t use it much at first.

    great camera with limits

Posted by SirCurt on October 20, 2019

The auto focus on moving targets is slow at times. The pause when camera is in sleep mode is excessive and can cause you to miss the shot. The wireless features are slow at times and bluetooth is bad. The eye/face detection is not working like it should. ( I am taking it too the camera store too be looked at. I do enjoy the overall function of the camera when I can get around these limitations and it takes great pictures.

    The sweet spot.

Posted by NikonDan on October 20, 2019

This camera has become my go-to walking around tool. It feels amazing in your hands, is super quick, and super quiet. IBIS is a game-changer, and works with all my f-mount lenses. I also shoot a D850, and having a smaller, more nimble companion camera has made my photography more spontaneous. The files are crisp and saturated, and often plenty large enough for my purposes.

    Nice camera but...

    Posted by tblanks253 on October 20, 2019

Needs more lenses. Uses a lot of battery power. Needs more firmware updates. [My last review I got mixed up with the camera vs the lens 24-70 mm which I like].

    Great Camera

Posted by Fabiano on October 19, 2019

I just love the performance of the Z6,Not perfect but very very solid camera.
Im coming from 2 D4s and I was surprised by the Z6 performance in lots of situations surpass the D4s.
I already replace one and locking forward to replace the other.
Pro: very good grip, amazing colors, fast, light weight , just amazing in available light.
Cons: no function Battery grip, Lens adapter could be a little funk-hard to focus ´´sometimes´´ (especially w the 24-70 2.8VR)
Overall very very solid camera, my choice of camera as this moment.
OBs since 2005 I had more than 35 cameras Bodies pro and amateurs (D4s,D3s,D810,D750,D700,D300s,D300,D200,D90,D80,D70,D60,D50,D5500 etc)

    Unbelievable clear and detailed photos

Posted by PhotoRookie on October 19, 2019

I finally moved from a DX D7100 camera to the Z6; quite a leap. It has taking me a bit to get used to it and really learn to manage aperture and Shutter speed as the previous camera had already pre-settings for different situations. I am fully enjoying this camera with the lenses I have. I am hoping Nikon comes out with a Z telephoto lens soon; i do not want to spend money on a Nikkor lens.

    Amazing Camera

Posted by Hokey on October 18, 2019

I did not think that Nikon would be able to make a mirrorless camera that could compete with the other well know brands out there getting a jump so late on the game but with the few updates. This camera works like a dream. I could not see myself without it ever again

    The Future of Mirrorless

Posted by Leon on October 18, 2019

From the new lensmount to the back touch screen, a wonderful example of the camera makers art.
Nikon hit several bullseyes with this and the ´7. Even easy to reconfigure to some things I have been used to since my first SLR, a Canon, back in the early 70s. Now? Depth of Field preview a button press away AND in the place my finger is used to. Great results using the ´kit´ lens, too. but don´t forget that the camera does a bit of processing before YOU see it. I can hardly wait for the 70-200f4 to become available.
FTZ adapter is $$$ but very functional and ´tight´. I bought an 85mm f1.8G lens and couldn´t be happier.

Kind of a steep learning curve, but between th User Manual and (online) Reference Manual, you can get close. Seeing a few youtube videos fixed any remaining problems and I now navigate thru those items I frequentlly use with no problems. My next task will be to ´automate´ those settings as ´USER´ settings.

    Love this camera....

Posted by Stratman on October 18, 2019

I purchased the Z6 as my entry into the mirrorless world to replace my D610 that was my backup to my D850. I was looking for a camera to support all of my F-Mount lenses and also give much better video performance. I have not been disappointed in the Z6. I love the improvements in video performance as I shoot about half and half videos and stills. The Z6 has quickly replaced the D850 as my number one camera to grab for a shoot. Love it, and I´m sure I´ll be making the complete switch to mirrorless one day.
