    Great camera

Posted by NewDigitalPhotographer on March 20, 2019

Disappointed in Nikon not offering adaptor for free to early buyers of the z6. Camera itself is great for low light situations, street scenes and architecture photos. Using it primarily in NYC. Having some handshakes I appreciate the camera stabilizing my shots. No longer a concern for me now that I have the Z6

Kind of creepy in low light

    Posted by Z6Noob on March 20, 2019

I really am just getting started with this camera and haven´t taken a lot of pictures yet. I am blown away by the low light sensitivity and dynamic range. It is almost creepy how this camera can see things I can´t see. It is all good though.

The 24-70 f/4 Z mount lens is superb and a great value in the kit. I have a couple of wishlist lenses in mind but will exercise patience by waiting for my choice of the new Z mount lenses, in order to take full advantage of the new lens to sensor geometry.

    Great work Nikon.

    Versatile, lightweight, extremely sharp

Posted by SunnyB on March 20, 2019

Like the compact design, sharp results and overall ease of use. The user menu is easy to handle and love the tilt touchscreen. I wish we had a greater variety of the lenses, particularly the telephoto lenses as digital. The memory card feature is the only issue as it does not translate seamlessly from the DSLR

    Amazing camera

Posted by Nikonjpm on March 20, 2019

I am delighted with my new Nikon Z6. It is loaded with great features, yet it is very easy to use. The menus are clear and logical. As a Nikon shooter I felt at home almost immediately. The lens adapter works very well; the only caveat as already mentioned by others is the fact that you need to attach your tripod to it when you use it. And then you need to remove the tripoid plate to be able to remove the adapter.
High ISO photos are rather clean. Image quality is great. The touch screen is fantastic.
Overall I am very pleased with my new camera!

An excellent introduction into mirrorless for Nikon

Posted by wafer on March 20, 2019

The Nikon Z6 is a nice transition into mirrorless for Nikon. Ergonomically the camera feels natural and is relatively familiar to shoot with if you have used a Nikon camera previously. Focus is fast with both Z mount lenses and F mount lenses with the FTZ adapter. I really like the results I am getting with it!

    Jack of all trades

Posted by tcguru on March 20, 2019

I bought the Z 6 because I needed a full frame camera that´s good for low light situations. It has worked like a charm with no appreciable noise at light levels that I wouldn´t think of even with my D810. The 24-70mm f/4 is sharp all over, the motion compensation is great even with my shaky hands, and I can use my F glass without any problems. I´m now waiting anxiously for the 85mm f/1.8 and the 70-200mm f/2.8 S lenses to appear and lighten my travel burden. The Z 6 is now my go-to camera.

    Mirrorless is different but fun.

Switching from a traditional camera to mirrorless is a huge adjustment. I love the camera capabilities but struggle with my exposures( since it´s digital).

    What A Great Surprise!

Posted by larryyoungphotos on March 20, 2019

Dear Nikon, as a commercial freelance photographer and a lifelong Nikon shooter (I purchased my first Nikon camera body, Nikon F, in 1972). I was intrigued and excited at the prospect of working with the new Nikon mirrorless camera system. The Nikon Z6 has not disappointed. The “learning curve” was non-existent, it´s tack sharp, the dynamic range is amazing, the image quality is great and it is stone cold silent…it fits quite nicely in my kit. I love the compact footprint. As a photographer who spends most of his time on the road and who loves street photography…it´s difficult to be a discrete street photographer with a D5 in tow. Nikon Z6 is a perfect street camera. The more that I´m learning about this camera, the more that I love it!

    Z6 Review

Posted by kikutar on March 20, 2019

    Pros
    - Body size smaller than DSLRs
    - Excellent quality “s” lenses
    - Decent battery life
    - Excellent EVF (but needs 120Hz refresh or faster)
    - Use of older model EN-EL15 battery
    - Optional in-camera charging of battery with USB cable
    - Electronic Front Curtain Shutter
    - Silent photography option

    Cons
    - Missing 2-button format of memory card
    - Lock switch for AF point
    - Dynamic area AF needs significant improvement – doesn´t maintain focus on moving subject even with featureless blue sky background and no foreground obstruction
    - Auto-area AF with “OK” button press procedure unusable under real-world conditions
    - Missing Group AF with closest subject priority
    - Lack of speedlites with compatible AF assist lamp
    - Missing green color focus confirmation in AF-C mode
    - Buffer too small
    - Lack of native macro lens (none announced thus far)
