I am all in for the Z

Posted by DrSteven on June 6, 2019

I am the owner of both the Z6 and Z7, having sold my former Nikon cameras. I can not speak for others, but just about everything I want in a camera is here. I am particularly pleased with the three user settings, that remain until you deliberately change them. Add to the the iMenu and the access it affords makes these cameras far easier to deal with than any I have had perviously. Still better is that all my Nikon lenses work using a simple adapter.

    Wow!

    Posted by BillV3 on June 5, 2019

The Z 6 is, by far, the best camera I´ve ever used! The photos are crisp, the low light performance is phenomenal, and I can record ProRes RAW video (with an Atomos monitor)! Those are just a few of my favorite capabilites, and I feel like I haven´t even scratched the surface of what this thing can do yet! If you´re thinking about going mirrorless, check out the Nikon Z Series!

    Great Camera and light weight

Posted by Sportsmen on June 5, 2019

This is so far the fastest camera that I believe that Nikon has produced for sports. Shooting at the highest frames at 12 frames per second I was able to capture a 1st basemen as he jump to catch a high throw as he is in the air to when he lands next to the base. I was using the Z6 at an ISO of 8000 there was no visible noise level that I could see to capture the action at 1000 shutter speed. at 2.8 aperture in a baseball field with low brightness of the stadium lights.

    Exciting and Inspiring

Posted by Robi on May 21, 2019

I have owned several Nikon cameras, starting from an APS-C D7000 all the way to a full-frame D850 and then trying APS-C again with the Nikon D500. Then I purchased the Z6 as I was interested in the video features - of course I bought the filmmaker´s kit.
The feel of the Z6 is simple and intuitive, if you come from Nikon everything is pretty much where you expect it to be. The quality of the photos is exactly where I expected it with a bit more dynamic range than what I was used to (which allowed me to get back onto shooting more interesting landscapes compared to what I was able to get in the past 12 years).
The mirrorless system is different and this difference is now inspiring me to experiment more, try out new things new angles, new possibilities. With it´s 24-70 f4 kit lens is an amazing camera and once you start working with faster lenses it becomes an incredible camera. I thought I couldn´t be more happy (except for eye-AF which is now available and it´s a pleasure to shoot portraits with!!!)
But then there is the whole video side of things - 4K, 10bit, 422 color sampling and I can honestly say that this is almost on par with my cinema cameras... except it´s so much lighter and less bulky which allows me to go where before I wouldn´t have been able to go and get the shots I was only dreaming of.
Overall it´s a very exciting camera but, most of all, it´s inspiring me to try out new things and this, for a creative artist, is invaluable!

The Z6 is an extremely capable camera with outstanding results.

Coming from a D750, it delivers crisper photos, especially at higher ISO. I have only had for 3 weeks but I´m very satisfied I made the right decision. I shot my granddaughters dance recital last weekend, was unsure of the AF points and metering to use since I was use to the 750 for last few years but it performed admirably.

    Compact Super Camera

Posted by Hamidk on May 15, 2019

I was very mucho in two minds about this camera before it came out. I saw many many videos on youtube discussing its pros and cons. I eventually decided to buy it primarily for video purposes since I already have a D810 and am quite happy with it.
Well, the video quality is as amazing as picture quality. Still getting used yo the size of the Z6 and the lack of a grip takes a bit of getting used to. But all these are minor issues considering how much technology is packed in this camera.

    Pretty good, still some issues

Posted by StuDawg on May 6, 2019

I still use my D750 for important shoots as the focus hit rate is too low on the Z6. Had problems with SB-700 but the firmware update that just came out fixed that. The IQ is very good as is the metering. Having double VR is pretty cool. I´m testing the 28-300VR, hand held, and the two seem to fight each other 15-20% of the time, but great.
The focus needs to improve, worlds away from the D750, in low light and tracking wildlife, but Nikon will take care of it I´m sure with future updates. Had the Fuji XT1 and the focus was horrible, then the XT2 which was a lot better. Fuji´s sensor is terrible and only got $650 on eBay for a $1600 body...... Nikon rules!

The best NIKON that I ever owned.

Posted by NikonRob on May 2, 2019

I bought my first NIKON in 1968 while in the USAF stationed at Pearl Harbor. I then bought a D200 and then a D600 and now a Z6. This is the best NIKON that that I have owned. The easiest to use and clearest pictures. The only little problem that I am having is setting up wi-fi and Bluetooth, but I am sure I will figure it out.
