    Not happy

Posted by Dennis on August 10, 2023

I purchased this lens new with my D850 brand new. Switching to digital was a challenge for this old dog. I struggled for two years with blurry pictures. I always thought it was me. After several trips to the store for a manual calibration that were unsuccessful, I was so frustrated with it I finally sent it for calibration. They determined that the lens is out of calibration and off focusing by 2 inches from 50 to 24 mm. I'm disappointed to say the least. Now I am stuck with a lens that is a boat anchor. I am outside my warranty. It will cost between 500.00 to 1500.00 to have it calibrated properly. I have already paid a fortune for it. I cant even use it as it is that bad. Now that I informed the store, they will not take it on trade either. this is not what I expect from Nikon. They have always been a world leader. I flushed 2500.00 down the toilet trusting the quality and support of Nikon. Lesson here is that when you buy new lens's, always have them tested for calibration accuracy. The Auto focus on mine is broken. Do it immediately within your return time period. What a complete waste!!
Nikon is welcome to contact me any time!

    The Magic Lens

Posted by Jason on September 15, 2021

Oh my…. This 24-70mm is ‘The Cats Meow’..! On my D7200, I’ve gotten so many compliments, on how crisp and clean my photos are. I’ve been told that I was the only one that made someone actually feel good about themself, because she was so happy how her photos looked! Not only is this an Investment, it’s Magic.. Semper Fi

    Not Sharp Images at 2.8

Posted by Maziar Bastani on July 26, 2021

I bought this lens based on the great feedback and image quality. The lens build quality is good but the one I received seems not a working one on the 2.8 aperture.

Fantastic lens with great image control

    Posted by Iceman183 on December 20, 2020

I’ve owned this lens for about a year now, and it has been a wonderful performer. It’s pretty big, so best used with a heavy camera (I use a D850 with grip) to balance the rig. I love the sharpness c order to corner, and the overall handling characteristics. With VR, I’m able to routinely handhold at speeds as low as 1/20th second at 70mm, and when enlarged on the (unforgiving) D850, still maintain great sharpness and overall image contrast and colour saturation. Expensive. Heavy. Big. Worth every dollar, millimetre and gram...

My first foray into “ pro zooms” and I am blown away, corner sharpness, resolution and contrast are fantastic. The build quality is just as impressive to me. Built like a tank

    Outstanding lens

Posted by Photograbber on May 18, 2018

The 24-70mm f2.8E ED VR has consistently amazed me at how well it performs in a variety of less than ideal situations and will always be a part of my kit. Paired with a D5, it is sharp, gives smooth bokeh and is quick to focus. It works equally well on my faithful well seasoned D300.

I have the lens mounted on the camera anytime it is in the bag for those quick grab shots that present themselves unexpectedly, and it has yielded some really nice images of those fleeting precious moments.

It´s well known that excellant glass isn´t cheap. While this lens is not an inexpensive piece of gear and may not be in the realm of a typical amateur photographer (maybe even some pros, perhaps), it has and continues to deliver remarkable performance. This has made my investment very much worth it.

    Worth every penny

I hesitated to upgrade after reading all the mixed reviews. Finally got a call from my dealer in Charlotte that a new stock of 24-70mm f/2.5E Ed VR had arrived, I reluctantly traded in my old G version for this one. WOW what a difference. This is an amazing lens! Paired with a D850 raises photography to another level. Anyone who is waiting to upgrade, don´t. The clarity and detail this thing produces even at low shutter speeds is awesome (easily hand holdable to 1/15 sec. at 70mm). My next upgrade will be the 70-200mm f/2.8E.
