    My newest GO TO lens!

Posted by OrangeKrate on September 9, 2017

I recently bought the AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR. It exceeded my expectations. I knew from the reviews and photos I had seen posted that it was a performer. I was concerned it may be a plastic feeling lightweight lens. NOT. It is a powerhouse full of glass goodness. Yes it is a larger lens but it can also replace several of the lenses in my bag. I will be using this as my ´´go to´´ lens if there is any question on what to grab first. Great speed, focus and bokeh.

    Excellent VR and optic sharpness.

Posted by Vivendran on October 24, 2016

I saw lot of review that this lens less sharper than previous non vr lens. Well, it might be true. Most of them test it using tripod and mirror up to get maximum sharpness. In real life, we won´t continuously use tripod and mirror up. I am always traveling guy, and also part time wedding photographer. I lost lot of important picture due to shaking. Last month I sold my previous non vr 24-70mm nikon and bought this new lens. It is awesome. Even 1st day I bought the lens, I nearly fall down when I tried to test how good is the vr, by continuous moving my body to see the effect in viewfinder (it is really stable until I forgot I am leaning my body). Sharpeness is better with vr on. I could snap picture without blur at 1/10second. Definitely must have lens for traveler and wedding photographer.

    Great lens!!

I have 70-200/f2.8 and 24-120/f4. Sold the 24-120/f4 and got this. WOW. I got this lens from this site after it was out of stock and then re-stocked. Not sure if things improved, but the lens is SUPER SHARP throughout. I read all the reviews on this lens...all were done on early production. I have no idea what they are talking about unless Nikon tighten up their production or did behind-the-scene improvement.

Beautiful accurate colors. Sharp. Super fast focus with D750.

Biggest negative...this is a big lens and relatively heavy. It is my primary lens.

    Wedding Photographer´s Dream

Posted by KrisVlad on May 23, 2016

I am absolutely stunned by the performance of this lens. The focus is ultra fast, and image quality is amazing, and the booked at 70mm is phenomenal. If you use your gear for portraiture or wedding photography, this is THE lens for you. At 24mm it is perfectly wide for full body shots, and at 70mm it is perfectly tight for beautiful portraits. It IS expensive, but it allows you to ditch the 2 or 3 prime lenses you would have to constantly take on and off to get the same image quality at a lesser cost. I´d rather consolidate and use top notch lens instead.

    Seriously Disappointed

Posted by Nickynikon on April 13, 2016

This is the third 24-70 f2.8 Nikkor I have owned. I complained about my first one (non-VR), and even had Nikon check it for anomalies that would cause it to create soft images. I have three pro-bodies, and they all generated similar soft images with that lens. I then bought a second one in the hope that maybe the first was just an aberration - but no, it was not sharp, either. Then, when the 24-70 VR was announced, I ordered it and presumed that the earlier lens´s shortcoming would be eliminated. After it arrived, I immediately spent three days shooting test shots. It was worst than the first two lenses! I was, and remain, sorely disappointed. I never use this lens now unless i have no other choice for an assignment. Arguably the worst Nikkor I have ever owned - and I´ve probably owned thirty or forty Nikkors in my career as a pro. If ever I can find a mint 28-70 2.8, I´ll buy it and sell this 24-70. The 28-70 was a great lens - and Nikon should never have replaced it.

    A Must Have Lens!

Posted by Fjoe on December 25, 2015

This lens is ideal for travel, landscape, etc... I just returned from a trip where I took over 2,000 shots and most were keepers, primarily due to the VR and low light capacity. I used the older 24-70 for years but this one outperforms it.
    I highly recommend this lens!

Soft and fuzzy @ f/2.8. Original (non-VR version) was much sharper.

Posted by MichaelK on December 20, 2015

As a newborn/child portrait photographer, the original 24-70mm was my workhorse. I would use it on a daily basis, shooting wide-open at f/2.8, and it would yield sharp images time and time again. Upon upgrading to this long-awaited VR version, I must say however, that I was left disappointed. Wide open, this lens simply cannot match the original in terms of sharpness. The images are considerably softer and fuzzier. At close range, especially at 70mm, the images produced simply fail to render anything in focus. I have tried AF Fine tune on my D4 and D810 bodies, as well as disabling the VR function, all to no avail. I shoot with flash, so camera shake is not an issue. I have been a faithful Nikon shooter for over two decades, and this is the first time I am truly disappointed with their product.

    WOW!

Posted by Stevespassion on December 13, 2015

I was recently on a trip to Australia. While in Sydney, I stopped into a large camera store. I had my Nikon D750 with my 24-120mm f/4 lens with me. I took a series of photos with my lens, then I attached the new 24-70mm f/2.8 w/VR and took the same photos with the same settings. OMG! It was night and day. Guess what Santa is putting under my Christmas tree this year!
