Nikon FM2 to Nikon Z f - SIMPLY AMAZING!
Posted by jon betz on February 17, 2025
Coming from an FM2 this is a nice upgrade! I pair the Zf with the 26 pancake and the 40mm for street photography and the 24-120 for all around photographing. I really love flip around screen with the same texture as the body. This camera body will go down as an all time classic out of all the Nikon cameras because Nikon did not cheap out on materials. It just feels right in your hands. I really do not have any complaints but only complements. I love that this is a full frame camera, and that is has in body image stabilization (IBIS). This camera is absolutely sexy, I'm so proud to wear it around my neck. I'm SO glad Nikon did not put a modern grip on this as it would have taken away from the entire shooting experience and nostalgic feel it has. I love the top view- when it's around my neck and you look down at those tactile brass knobs; beautifully thought out design. The dedicated B/W switch is brilliant, plus the viewfinder goes to b/w so you don't have to imagine what the light and shadow will look like. Defiantly a grand slam Nikon!

So far I love the Z F. My D750 is VERY jealous.
Posted by Edmund Hayes on February 7, 2025
I have been shooting with a D750 for over 10 years and have many great lenses for it. For some reason, I wanted to go digital—it was just another toy, I guess. So, I ordered the Z F with the 40mm lens as a kit and an F-mount converter.I have had the Z F now for a bit over a week, and I love it. I am still studying it, and I am happy to report that the learning curve isn't bad. I have taken many test shots with various lenses, and so far, I am in love with the camera.I will report back after some usage.Maybe I

High IQ Fun
Posted by Varien Tilton on February 6, 2025
What makes you like a camera? For me, two attributes outweigh all others. Most important, it needs to render images that make me happy and satisfied. And, second, it has to be a pleasure to use. With those points in mind, what I like best about the Nikon Zf is its image quality and the fun it rewards me with while - and after - using it. Plus, the bounty of a Zf’s basket of technological wonders is like having extra candy in your trick or treat bag.Nikon color science is tops for both color photography and for B&W tones. Nikon brings that science to life in Zf images adding significantly to how much I like my Zf photos.I also very much like how good my Zf feels to hold and to handle. The camera is solid and has the right heft to hold it steady. Too, the Zf’s superior stabilization system is a gift allowing hand held exposures that otherwise would require a tripod.Having taken pictures for over 70 years with seven different cameras (Kodak Brownie, Argus Rangefinder, Nikomat FTN, Nikon F2S Photomic T, Nikon D700, Nikon Z 7II, and Nikon Zf) I’m finding I really like my Zf. It stands above for both its high IQ and for fun. Plus, it has an uncanny way of attracting me to pick it up and use it.Photos: 1) Bougainvillea Zf + Nikkor 24-120 f/4 S, ISO 100; 2) Ginger Zf + Nikkor S 105 f/2.8, ISO 10,000; 3) Ginger in her bag Zf + Nikkor S 105 f/2.8 ISO 4,000; 4) Ginger on her chair Zf + Nikkor S 105 f/2.8 ISO 2,500; (5 Ginger sleeping B&W Zf + Nikkor S 105 f/2.8 ISO 125

Very very happy with the Zf, after 10 years with my D750
Posted by David Hollenback on February 3, 2025
I'm coming to this camera after a 10 year relationship with my D750. And I love it!. Such a fun, good looking upgrade. Here's what I am especially enjoying: matrix metering is fabulous, I no longer underexpose by 2/3 stop (camera really hangs on to detail in the very bright regions) even with backlit people; auto white balance is fabulous, especially noticeable under mixed lighting conditions; autofocus is excellent, fastening on my grandchildren's eyes and not letting go; noise is non-existent in the raw files (at least I haven't found any up to 1600 ISO). The shutter sounds are lovely, including silent when necessary. Is there anything I don't like you might be wondering? I bought a grip before leaving the store with the camera. Without the grip I find it hard to hold. I'd like another 1 or 2 programable buttons on the outside. The relationships between the dials and ISO settings are a little confusing at first. I messed around with this, watched a few videos and bought David Busch's book and figured it out. I find myself using manual exposure a lot. The shutter speed and ISO dials work well so why not. Am I happy with my purchase? Absolutely! Did I mention how much I am liking the 24-70 f/4 and 40mm Z mount lenses? Very much! Would I buy this setup again? Without question.

Great upgrade!
Posted by Jaden Carley on January 30, 2025
So glad they brought the Orange back. It is stunning in person and the camera is a beast! Slowly getting use to it, as I am a hobbyist and this is my first upgrade in roughly 9-10 years. I can’t recommend this camera enough. I have the 40mm lens with it to start and it’s a great combo. I also got a soft shutter button and it makes a bigger difference than I expected. Overall 10/10!

Perfect choice for me
Posted by Al G Al G on January 18, 2025
This is the most enjoyment I've experienced with a piece of photo equipment in a long time. As a long time Nikon user I can safely say this is the camera that will end my regret for selling my D700 several years ago. The Zf is a pleasure to use and produces beautiful colors and sharpness.

Nikon ZF

Purchased with the 24-70mm lens, it’s a fun camera to use even with its quirks. Takes good photos, focus has improved but eye detection isn’t sticky at times. Having a micro sd card with USB 1 rating is kind of redundant with full size SD USB II card. Getting cards out with grip on can also be a treat. All in all not a bad camera.

Simply amazing for car photography/videography
Posted by Robbie H on December 18, 2024
I've had this camera since december of last year and I can say that this is the most enjoyable camera that I have ever shot with. I've tried the xt-5 and it just doesn't have the same feel as the zf, the dials on the xt5 feel cheap and plastic-like and just a less enjoyable experience. The menus make sense, I don't feel as though I would need a joystick as I came from a dslr that also did not have a joystick, the iso controls are fine on the zf along with the shutter dial and the aperture control dial works well, I have the command button set to double exposure and working with it feels comfortable and natural. The video quality is great, using it for mainly car photography, although I wish the video shooting menu displayed more information and gave me an exposure meter like sony rather than the histogram / vectorscope. The picture quality is also insane, super sharp with the 24-70 f4/s. The weather sealing feels really good, haven't taken it out in super harsh weather yet. This is my daily camera and it definitely gets bumped around and scratched while still looking amazing. It has survived one fall off of my probably 3 foot desk onto carpet without losing any functionality. The screen is better than the xt5 as well as the a6700, the evf is better than the a6700 and the xt5, the shutter sound is AMAZING, couldn't move to any other camera simply for that, overall an amazing looking and feeling lens, if I had to buy another camera it would be this.
