Amazing camera with that could lose a little weight.
Posted by Benjamin Traylor on April 8, 2023
Overall this is a great camera. If I can think of a creative to shoot an image this camera combined with the S-Line lens can make it happen. The clarity is hands down the best I've seen on the market. The amount of control that you have before and during the shot is unbelievable. I was worried about battery life for such a beast. I mainly shoot northern lights in Alaska. No worries about battery drain. I can shoot all night in freezing conditions and still have over 3/4 of the battery left. Weather sealing is great. Now the negatives. I feel that this mirrorless camera did not get the memo from advertising. This camera is a beautiful but heavy beast. With an equivalent lens attached to my Z9, My D810 is Significantly lighter! My Z9 feels almost twice as heavy. Not a great thing for long hikes. The S-line glass is equally as heavy. My only other gripe is the charger that came with the camera went belly up 2 months after purchase. I've been forced to charge in-camera via cable. Not so bad if I only had one battery, except that I have two. This means that I have to wait twice as long to charge two batteries because I can only charge one at a time. All in all the negatives would never keep me from purchasing this camera and I would definitely recommend to serious photographers.

Best camera on the market, best camera Nikon has ever made.
Posted by Dave Quick on April 8, 2023
I've been a Nikon pro/user for 30 years and this is by far the best camera they have ever produced. I've never bought two bodies of the same model until this camera... after using it three months this was enough of a leap forward; I didn't want my second carry body to be my old D6 and ordered a second Z9. It works flawlessly with my F mount AF-S lenses via the FTZII. The major firmware updates unlocked new features that made it an entirely better camera than I originally bought and the support has been great (I had a drop I needed fixed on one body and they turned it around quickly for me. I look forward to the future pro mirrorless models from Nikon.

Great grips make for easy handling for smaller hands.

Great camera all around! I upgraded from a Z6 and was worried the weight and size of the Z9 would be too bulky, but it has wonderful grips and I had no trouble adjusting. Photo quality is exquisite, of course.

Z9 Nikons best to date.
Posted by ANDRE FLEWELLEN on April 8, 2023
By far their best Mirrorless camera yet, maybe their best yet. I've owned the Z6 which I still don't understand why their is no vertical button. Then I got rid of that for the updated Z6ii. Real nice camera but lousy in low light. Z9 took care of this issue. It focus is real nice, the only issue it likes to pick up peoples eyes in the back ground of a group photo instead of the main subject. So I don't use the big square for focus. Still trying to figure out the tracking solution, my D5 is a little nice but there is no turning back now. I love this camera and want another one.

The Z9 is Simply Superb!
Posted by Eric Klees on April 7, 2023
Everyone's camera. I have owned many Nikon cameras and the, Z9 is subtlety amazing. Hey about 90-95% keeper/hit/in-focus rate since the Firmware 3.01 update. The IQ is superb. The flagship pro body feels so good I'm the hand. The ergonomics layout is perfect for my hands as well.

I'm a long time Nikon user, having used many bodies/lenses. Z9 has replaced my D500 as my go-to wildlife body. I don't miss the optical viewfinder nearly as much as I thought I might. I've got it set up pretty well now regarding which auto focus modes to use for my purposes, and I've assigned the Fn buttons on the front to different AF modes. I'm getting acclimated to quickly switching between the modes, and it may take a bit more time to sort it out completely, but the AF on the Z9 is a major step forward. AF for wildlife is perhaps the most important feature of any camera, and the Z9 is really nice. I'm a Nikon user, but not necessarily a fan boy, so just because I had to auction off a kidney to afford it, doesn't mean that I'll automatically love it to death. That said, it's a really great camera. The weight difference is significant, but I can still hand hold for everything which makes it a very quick rig. I'm getting shots that I wouldn't have with the D500, which is no slouch. It's paired with a Sigma 500 f4 and works very well. I'm using it with the FTZ adapter, and may continue that way for the foreseeable future. The only Z lens that is available and would be an upgrade is the Z600 f4 and I only have one kidney left so that may have to wait. It burns through batteries, so get at least one spare.

NIKKN Z9 IS ONE AMAZING CAMERA!
Posted by Kevin Black on April 7, 2023
I've been a Nikon used ever since my teens. After attending Professional photography school, I moved up to the Nikon D800E, then the D850. Both are amazing cameras. I've been itching to move to mirrorless but wasn't convinced until the Z9 came out. I wanted it so bad that I took on a second job to help pay for it along with the S-line of lenses (24-70mm f/2.8, 70-20mm f/2.8 and the 400mm f/4.5).I've never owned a camera Antin like the Z9. Coupled with the amazing lenses, it's truly incredible. The more I learn with this camera, the more I realize I need to learn. It's capabilities are darn near limitless. And the images are astonishing! I hope to have this camera for many, many years. I don't know how Nikon can improve on the Z9.

Could have a better build
Posted by Paul Andrew Lawrence on April 6, 2023
The Z9 works like a good professional full frame camera, I which the camera builds was stronger, the frame rate wheel on the top left broke, checked baggage in a hard case with the airline on the way to location. Camera still works, but I don’t have access to change frame rate etc. working with the 58mm f0.95 Noct lens is a privilege, it’s the very best still photo lens I have worked with.
