I like the camera, but it is definitely not out of the box and start shooting camera to get what it capable of doing.
Posted by CHARLES M DEWEESE on March 9, 2026
Been taking photos past 40 years. I use Nikon d850 and d810 for people photos. Decided to tackle birding and wildlife photography. Nikon Z Camera is a real piece of art of its capabilities, but moving from a (D) to (Z) has been quite challenging. When I went to Nikon’s website to take a look at the manual with over a 1000 pages, I knew I was in for the long hall. I do like the new learning challenge, but it also is very frustrating being an experienced photographer and feeling like you’re a beginner again. Otherwise it is a great camera, just plan to have patience when you start using it. Several internal settings to learn to get the best from the camera.

Z8, Artistic Partner
Posted by Gary Tetley on March 8, 2026
I am an architectural and fine art photographer, and have owned my Z8 about a week. So far, I have used my Z8 twice, once to document a historic brewery, and yesterday working on my fine art abstract industrial landscapes. I am very impressed with the sharp details this camera captures, a significant difference from my previous camera, and I look forward to really challenging my creative with my new artistic partner.

Awsome camera!

I’m very happy with the Z8. It I paired with my D850, and did not fall short of my expectations or Nikon’s reputation. I would recommend it to anyone shooting wildlife for sure.

Z 8
Posted by Tighe Vroman on February 21, 2026
This is a great camera and I am very happy that I chose the Z8! It is primarily used for sports, wildlife, landscapes, and video. There are a ton of features and the ability to customize your settings for the different types of photos you take is something I love! I upgraded to the Z8 from an older DSLR, so there was a bit of a learning curve, but was overcome without much difficulty due to the number of online resources and video tutorials. After only a couple days with it, I am capturing some beautiful photos!

I love my new Z8. It is so easy to use and my photos are professional level. I specifically purchased this camera for wildlife photography. Me and my Z8 are off to Kenya to capture some amazing photos.

This is one awesome camera! I upgraded from a D810 and don't regret it!! I use it mainly for wildlife/birds and I couldn't be happier with how this camera performs.

Should have done this a year ago!
Posted by Viju Verghis on February 7, 2026
Just upgraded from a D500 and loving it. Lots to learn upfront, but once the initial set up was done and you start using and getting familiar with it, absolutely awesome! I switched to z zoom lenses and the overall lighter load from my old set up is also very nice when traveling. Battery life is noticeably less, but carrying spares is not an issue.

Best Camera I've Ever Used
Posted by Chris Hagan on February 1, 2026
There's nothing the camera can't do, and the image quality is insanely good. The detail you get at the base ISO of 64 is remarkable, and the quality holds well into the High ISO ranges. Take the time to learn it and set it up and you'll fall in love with its capability.
