    My Wildlife Companion

Posted by Kemoy Clarke on January 7, 2026

I think I am in love, I shoot wildlife, and the Nikon Z8 delivers exactly what I need: fast, reliable autofocus with excellent animal and bird eye detection, high burst speeds, and a silent shutter that doesn’t spook subjects. The image quality is outstanding, and the rugged build holds up outdoors. It’s a camera I trust in the field.

    A NEW Z8

Posted by D Taylor on January 6, 2026

Top of line build for durability and dependability. The guts, (the electronics), make up a class leading capability for responsiveness and crystal clarity. It is a beast, but like all of nature it won’t fail if you take the time and patience to understand it and care for it.

    Excellent AF

Posted by CRAIG MULLENBACH on January 1, 2026

Coming from a D5 and. D4, the Z8 is just magical for my sports and wildlife photography. The people and critters eye detect is so good. It grabs runner and bikers and sticks hard to the. Love my Z8.

    Z8 Magic

Posted by William Fassinger on December 25, 2025

This camera is amazing! Used it on a night shoot in the Adirondacks while capturing the Milky Way. I also used it while photographing New River Gorge National Park. Tremendous clarity! Very easy to maneuver the controls. Highly recommend this outstanding piece of equipment.

    Worth It

Posted by Erwin Mojica on December 22, 2025

Blown away by this camera. I absolutely love it. Upgraded from the D-850, which I used for 8 years and is an incredible camera in its own right, but using the Z8 almost feels like cheating, especially when shooting in low light evening events. I’m so happy I made the investment. It’s helped make my workflow much smoother! I’m using the FTZ II adapter for now. Works seamless with all my old lenses.

    Nikon Z8 is fantastic!

Posted by Christopher Busbee on December 21, 2025

I have only used it a couple of times, but this is a huge upgrade over my D300 that I bought over 15 years ago! I love the ease with which I was able to learn the controls so far. It takes fantastic low light pictures! I can't wait to learn how to use it better!

Lots to Learn, But Fun Doing It.

I bought a D70 when it first came out. Then I bought a D200 and then a D800. I thought the latter would be my last camera. (I'm 76 now.) But I saw some images from another member of our photo group taken with a Z9 and I was blown away. Got the Z8 and the FTZ adapter. I'm still wading through manuals that explain the camera's powers, and I'm impressed. Since I have many high-end Nikon lenses, being able to use them was a huge plus in the Z8's favor. Everything works perfectly. Yeah, the F-mount lenses are big and heavy, but a few extra ounces won't kill me and I can spend the $10K I saved on something else. I'm a bit concerned with battery life, so I have an extra battery and a power pack that can run the camera and/or charge the battery. I shoot a lot of events, so chimping is a habit I might have to break. Otherwise, the camera's feature set is awesome. I'm looking forward to becoming more proficient handling all the things this tool can do.

My first choice when it counts.

Posted by Justin Johnston on December 16, 2025

I’ve been running cameras from most of the major brands for over 2 decades. I’ll admit, I’m slightly biased due to the fact the majority of my glass is Nikon. That aside, this Z8 has been extremely impressive since I first purchased it. I’ve had mine since it was released, and it’s December of 2025 now. One huge thing I’d like to point out is Nikon has been constantly updating the firmware. It just keeps getting better. I shoot photos and video for a living 5-6 days a week. I’m also using the Z6, and Z7 first gen. Every time I break out the Z8 it’s a special experience. I did an event the other day in really low light. The crazy fast auto focus with eye detection, paired with the 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S, and sharp usable files at high ISO still amaze me. I use it for wildlife photos and video with the 800mm f/6.3 VR S and get shots that I’ve never been able to capture before. I’ve used it on a gimbal with multiple lenses and it didn’t cause fatigue. I’ve been shooting HLG and editing video rec2020 for HDR videos (final export), that pop with brightness and color. This camera is all around very exceptional. It’s my “go to” for my most important jobs. Honestly my absolute favorite, and I have quite a few cameras from several brands.
