    Almost perfect.

Posted by Paul M. on April 13, 2025

The image quality of this camera is outstanding. I have no regrets making this purchase, with the exception of the fact that Nikon has been dragging their feet for so long on development (if any) of the Z7lll, that I could no longer wait, so I jumped on this great deal on a refurb directly from Nikon. The 7ll does NOT have the Expeed 7 processor, which means it lags a bit behind in its focusing speed/power compared to the 5ll, 6lll, 8 and 9, and its buffer is due for a boost, but it is still quite fast and accurate enough for most situations a non-sports photographer would encounter. It is indeed capable for sports, but there are better Nikons if that's your priority. The viewfinder itself is very bright, even in direct sunlight, but the monitor screen is hard to see under the same circumstance; it's just not bright enough in the sun. This would only be a problem if you had to make a lot of menu changes in the bright sunlight, but if you're like me, and always shoot using the EVF, you'll be fine.I like the weight of the camera; it fits well in my hands and doesn't have the bulk and weight of the Z8. It could use a few extra programmable buttons (it really only has 2!), but there are ways around that with the 'i' menu. Still, it would be nice to change some things without having to hunt around menus, even if they are customizable. The 45 megapixels are heaven-sent! You can easily crop to DX mode, with resolution on par with Nikon's dedicated DX Z cameras. You can't say that about the Z5x or Z6x! From a practical standpoint, this makes a lens like the 24-120 f4 S the equivalent of a 24-180mm lens, and you can easily swap from FX to DX mode if you choose. On the 28-400, it would offer a practical zoom of 600mm at nearly 20 megapixels. Not too shabby! While I would have liked a Z7lll (which probably would have had the latest Expeed processor, better/faster buffer, and brighter viewfinder and monitor), I'm sure I will stick with this model for years to come. My previous Nikons, D3100 and D7100, did (and continue to) serve me well, and the Z7ll has all of that Nikon hardware quality and more.A camera as good as this would be a great choice for any enthusiast and most professionals. It is (almost) perfect!

    Problem with camera

Posted by Raybug on March 6, 2025

The camera had to be returned for exchange. It had a problem I believe with the IBIS, images jumped all over the viewfinder and also were stored on the card in different positions. Some images were also distorted.

    Make more sense.

I have been a long time Nikon shooter but have tested other brands. I sold my X-T5 that I used mainly for travel due to size and weight. I have bought the Z 7II to now use for travel as it fits more within my photography use and needs. I have a Z8 and a plethora of Nikon DSLR's as well as many lenses including z-mount. This just makes more sense to have everything Nikon and so much easier to use when all are the Nikon brand. I have found the quality of the images to be on par with the Z8 so I am only missing some of the features but none of the image quality. The Z 7II is the perfect camera for my travel needs and is easy to pack and use. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and really enjoy using the Z 7II.

    Great Camera Easy to Use

Posted by Ed R. on February 3, 2025

I recently changed from the Fuji XT-4 to the Nikon Z 7II. I mostly wanted it for photography and the full frame advantages as well as the quality of the Lenses available. I have not been disappointed and am loving it. Having the dual processors is a great advantage and hope that Nikon continue to improve the firmware even though this is older model.

This is my 7th Nikon camera since switching from Canon and I have no regrets. Nikon cameras and lenses have really performed better and better every release.
