Static subjects photographers will be happy with z6ii

Posted by Richard Davis on July 16, 2023

I've had the z6ii for more than a year. I'm an enthusiast though I've sold a few photos over the years. I upgraded from a d7200. I love the z6ii noise levels coming from an older d7200 crop sensor but I miss getting more photos in focus. I spray a bit on purpose to get a few photos in focus. But I miss birds in flight and action shots. I often don't even attempt them because I assume failure is most likely. I like the use for landscape photos I don't think there is any reason not to buy for static subjects. I know the focus issues have been fixed for the most part in the z8 and z9 but the cost will have me buy used in a few years. Autofocus has been improved with more up to date lenses but still lacking.

Z6 II is great all around mirrorless

Posted by Paul Greiner on July 13, 2023

My company shot with the Z6 & Z7 (along with DSLR's) for a year and then upgraded to Z6 II, Z7 II & most recently Z8. The Z6 II is used for real estate and the Z6 II is perfect for a traveling with as it can shoot & film accurately. I recommend adding the NB-N11 battery pack that doubles the shoot time and the larger grip fits my hand better. I also like having the dual controls of the NB-N11 when shooting portraits. I had the NB-N10 on the Z6 & Z7 but upgraded to the newer dual NB-N11 control units. I never worry about power when filming with dual batteries.

    Excellent Step Up

Posted by Douglas Engel on July 7, 2023

I recently took a big step up to the Z6 II after being away from higher end photography for many years. My last full frame was pre-digital. I love it. While still getting used to all the things I can do with the Z6, I find it easy to use (I have read several books on using the Z6/Z7 which were very useful) all things considered. I coupled it with a 24-70mm 2.8 s lense for all around shooting. I am learning more every time I use it. I shopped it against all the other mirrorless cams in the class and found this the best of the breed for my purposes and stage of evolution

    Nikon z6II FOR BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY

Posted by SCOTTJACK jack on July 6, 2023

I upgraded for wildlife photography from a D3X. The focus tracking is more than I expected and the metering is spot on. I also have a Z5, but the 14 fps shooting mode and the auto tracking for birds is awesome. Great product Nikon!

Z6ii was a Great Performer alongside my D850 on 18-day African Safari

Posted by Albert Waldhuber on July 6, 2023

I purchased my Z6ii for a backup to my D850 for a May/June safari in South Africa, Zimbabwe, & Botswana. To manage weight considerations, I only took 14-24, 24-70, & 70-200 lenses with an FTZ adapter. The fast auto focus, incredible low-light functionality, and two card slots proved to be a Big Plus. Splashed by water at Victoria Falls did not phase this camera. The camera performed flawlessly throughout the 18 days in the bush and the battery life was well beyond the predicted lifespan.... use viewfinder 90% of the time! Evening Game Drive shots were enhanced with the Z6ii which helped nail some challenging light scenarios. Great addition to the Nikon lineup!

    Great camera for most applications

Posted by Larry Emerton on June 29, 2023

I used my Z6ii for a little over a year and really like the ergonomics of it, it just feels good in your hands. For most photography applications, it is a great camera. I bought it mainly for wildlife and the autofocus struggles with birds in flight. I recently upgraded to the Z8 and am still learning the ropes with it, but am much happier with autofocus response.

Can only access a small part, but great what I can!

Posted by Sherri Whidden on June 24, 2023

The camera has great qualities, the bit I’ve been able to use it. I have the 24-120 lens. Been waiting over 6 weeks for the FTZ adapter and over 3 weeks for the 100-400. Can’t wait for the other gear to arrive so I can put it through it full tests. Hurry up and release the gear Nikon!

    Review

Posted by Nick Last Name on June 20, 2023

Recently purchased my new z6II. I have been using the D7000 since 2010. Gave the d700 to my granddaughter. I am just an enthusiast and love taking all kinds of pictures. My learning curve is much longer than the d7000, however, I am learning and learning what the Z6II can do. I am 78 and I enjoy the challenge of something new to learn. I am amazed at the quality of the pics and videos. The Slo-Mo is very easy to use. I am using it with the 24-200 nikkor lens.

Superior camera for my first step into mirrorless photography.

Posted by Scott Scott on June 11, 2023

A great camera. Still trying to dial in all the appropriate settings for the type of photography I do. The options are numerous and allow for a great range of combinations. This is my primary camera body from now on.
