Beyond Architecture: A Wide-Angle Lens for Sports Storytelling

Posted by Poopak Mahdavi on October 24, 2026

I purchased this lens primarily for architectural photography, but I've already found it useful for sports and events. It's a nice complement to my longer lenses, allowing me to capture wider scenes and the atmosphere surrounding an event. I'm looking forward to exploring its capabilities further as I expand into architectural and interiors photography. So far, I'm pleased with its versatility and the creative possibilities it offers.

    Travel Friendly

Posted by AUBREY W. NOLAN on September 2, 2026

I use it for travel; it is light and small and great for use indoors in churches and castle. My 14 - 24, 2.8 Z lens is just too heavy and large to take on long vacation trips.

    Excellent multipurpose lens.

Posted by Rickard Cosmar on July 19, 2026

So far it's been excellent for a used lens. Works as many have reviewed and significantly less expensive lens that Nikon permits you to register.

    Wonderful Lens

Posted by Rick Svatek on March 28, 2026

This is a wonderful lens. Five stars given after my first outing with my new Z 14-30 lens paired with my Z 7II. I upgraded to mirrorless this year because my old D800 plus lens got too heavy on long outings. My original plan was to use an adapter with my old lenses but decided to go with new mirrorless lenses as well. The Z 14-30mm replaced my old F mount 18-35mm. The new Z lens is a remarkable improvement over the old F mount lens. It was a great decision to upgrade to new technology. This wide angle lens inspires creativity for me. Wide angle images are exciting and can give the viewer a sense of being right there. This lens captures sharp images, is fast to focus, and light to carry.

    Very happy

Posted by BillyG 05 BillyG 05 on March 22, 2026

I use this for interiors. It replaces my 14-14 f1.8. It’s much smaller, lighter and probably sharper than the f lens. It will save my buying a new tripod mount for sure very happy I bought it.

    14 - 30mm F4

Posted by Mark on February 19, 2026

Nice lens; it hits the sweet spot at 16 - 24 mm. At f 5.6 - to f11. Settings at 14 mm and 30 mm have poor results.

Simply a great lens and works well in low light so don't let the F4 scare you!

Simply love this lens and it works great even in low light conditions! You can read more about it on our tech write up of the Nikon Z on Flats Nation Dot Com.
