Love the FTZ adapter with my Ai/AISlenses.

Posted by Julesjv on March 11, 2019

I bought the Z6 along with the FTZ adapter and have used it with my 16-35, 70-200, 24-120 and 300mm F4 AFS Lenses and it works great. Autofocus seems just as fast as when they are mounted on my D810. However, the best thing for me is that the adapter works so well with my Nikon AI and AIS manual focus lenses. I have been a Nikon user since 1972 and have a bunch of manual focus lenses. They are very easy to focus on the Z6 with the combination of focus peaking and the ability to magnify the image in the viewfinder. Also all my old lenses are now image stabilized . Something that wasn´t even thought of in the 70´s.

    Makes mirrorless possible for me

Posted by Saorsa on March 11, 2019

I have legacy F-mount lenses including the 70-200mm f2.8 and 200-500mm f5.6. I was attracted to the Z6 because of IBIS and on-sensor AF as well as a more compact size for travel. The FTZ let´s me use all my lenses DX and FX with the camera.
The image below is from the 200-500mm on a Z 6 via the FTZ.

    Finally!!!

    Posted by uxo22 on March 11, 2019

I have wanted a mirrorless camera for years, but the biggest drawback was that when using Sony and other, I was unable to effectively use my high quality Nikon glass. With the introduction of the Z series camera and the FTZ adapter, I am in hog heaven, I get to get a lightweight mirrorless camera that feels just as good as my D850 while also being able to use my F-Mount lenses, and this thing works great for me. Everything feels so natural. I love it!

Flawless solution for adapting F-mount to Z-mount

Posted by jackarm on March 11, 2019

First of all, my dozen or so lenses are all AFS-G so I am not trying to adapt legacy lenses to my new Z7.
The results have been perfect performance at negligible weight and size increase. Once the FTZ is in place, I really do not notice that it is part of my set-up. The camera feels great and balances well, even when my 70-200mm F/4 is attached. My goal for the last 3 years has been to decrease the size and weight of my travel kit. I bought the Z7 for this reason, leaving my D810 and D850 at home for studio use. I traded my F/2.8 zooms for F/4 and variable aperture solutions to further this purpose. I am happy with the trade-off when in the field, and as my Z series camera collection grows (eventually with more S Nikkors) I will not have lost the use of my F-mount lenses that were obtained after so much thought and planning.

    Makes mirrorless possible for me

Posted by NomDeNicholas on March 11, 2019

I own 15 f-mount lenses, so the ftz adapter allows me to enjoy the benefits of mirrorless without replacing my lens collection. As it turns out, the 58mm f/1.4G and the Z7 (via ftz) really play to each others´ strengths, because when you nail focus with that lens, you are richly rewarded.

I love the performance. I think others will too. This is what I am thinking.

    Great design

Posted by AbeK on March 11, 2019

It would have been easy for Nikon to just ´´wing it´´ and create the most minimally capable FTZ adapter. But instead they were truly thoughtful and created a well-designed, compact adapter that delivers 100% compatibility with F mount lenses and zero optical compromises. Great job, Nikon!

Quality product enabling easy transition to Z7

Posted by JohnW on March 11, 2019

Purchased as part of the bundled package with the initial Z7 offer. Able to use all my current FX and DX lenses with my Z7 with no loss whatsoever of picture quality from my D750 output. Pictures are tack sharp, even when using my 105mm macro lens..This is in addition to the obvious benefit of a small investment for the adapter vs purchasing new quality glass as it becomes available.
