The adapter works seamlessly with all of my Nikon AF-S lenses as well as lenses from Tamron and Sigma.

FTZ adapter 1st class
Posted by RobON on March 11, 2019
The FTZ adapter allows me to use my two fine Sigma portrait lenses just as if they were native. I use the 105mm f/1.4 and the 135mm f/1.8 perfectly. If you´re going to use an L bracket with your FTZ, use the Small Rig bracket, very versatile, or the Kirk Industries L bracket as they both work perfectly with the camera and FTZ. So far, the RRS bracket won´t allow you to take off the FTZ, the bracket is too wide. Love my Z7 as well. Can´t wait for the Z8 ??? Sports model camera to come out later this year. Selling both my D500 and D850 and going full mirrorless, I´m a believer after using the Z7. Way to go Nikon!!!

good, could be better, but it´s good
Posted by jvejrp1 on March 11, 2019
The FTZ adapter is just an adapter. It does it´s job mounting compatible F mount to the Z mount. I am able to mount my Tamron F mount Lens too. It doesn´t expand any functionality, like the Canon adapters do. Maybe in future releases the FTZ could have additional functionality added. Hopefully the next rendition of the FTZ the mount is flush with bottom of the camera. Anyway, it´s a good product and does as stated.

Great accessory for the Z Series.
Posted by Melco on March 11, 2019
This is a great accessory for the Z series cameras as it allows seamless usage of my existing Nikon lenses. I have spent far more money on lenses than cameras so this adapter helps protect that investment.
I would rather the adapter was round on the bottom, vs. the flat mounting tab because that tab prevents mounting the adapter to the camera when the camera is mounted to a clamp. -

Excellent

It works great with all of my F mount lenses. If a lens is not a s lens the Z6 will not auto focus the lens but a colored lit up highlight or halo around the subjects or objects indicates it is in focus. I love the Z6 body.

Great option to use all my Nikon f Mount lenses
Posted by gryphon1911 on March 11, 2019
I love that I can use all my legacy and modern f-mount lenses on my Z6.
Quality construction and is small enough to always have with me.
This adapter allows me to use my 300/4E PF VR lens across all my cameras.
My only recommendation for improvement would be to create another adapter or have an updated model that supports the AI indexing tab to allow for recording of the aperture position of those legacy lenses in the EXIF data.
Have it function similar to the AI tab on the Nikon Df. -

Great addition from Nikon to keep the glass we love!

I have some older lenses and frankly was my main concern with switching over to the new Z format. I was blown away that the AF (as long as you have the SWM lenses) works superbly; I´d have to say even better than it did on my prior bodies. On my older lenses (105 AF-D micro 2.8 as an example), I now have to manual focus but not difficult at all.
Like most of us, I buy my lens to keep (an investment) with the knowledge that bodies will be replaced. With the FTZ adapter, I can both keep my fabulous NIKKOR lenses while enjoying the new mirrorless technology! -

it works great so I bought a second one!
Posted by HandsoffmyNikon on March 11, 2019
it works great so I bought a second one. I am keeping one FTZ on my ´´walk around´´ superzoom F mount lens because I´ll always carry it with me and only use it on my Z. I bought the second one to use and move around on my other various F mount lenses. They work great on my Z, and this level of compatibility was paramount to my buying a Z camera because I can continue to use my existing lens collection.

The invisible helper
Posted by tcguru on March 11, 2019
I am a long-time Nikon user. I bought the FTZ when I got my Z 6 in order to be able to use my F-mount lenses. The FTZ works perfectly with all of them, even some oldies. Just slip it on and go to work. The big decision to be made is whether to attach it first to the lens or the Z body.
