    One Great Camera

    Posted by mc2mc on April 12, 2019

I have been shooting Nikon gear for over 20 years. I bought and used my D800E since September 2012, and I thought was a great camera. The D850 is that much better! The quality of the image with the D850 is amazing. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone that loves creating magnificent images.

    Excellent

    Posted by Truth731 on March 30, 2019

I have owned many Nikons over the years and have never been disappointed, the D850 goes way beyond being satisfied, this camera is amazing. Let me just say up front I do not take video, so I can not comment on that, as far as stills go I mostly shoot monochrome, with the D850, there is very little if any post work that needs to done as far a tone, clarity, and contrast go, the in camera options and adjustments cover all and I love the large files, Easy to navigate, a comfortable fit to my hand, long exposure at higher ISO´s are fantastic, thus far I can find no complaints with this fine camera, I am getting ready to take it on an overseas shoot and am confident it will perform beyond my expectations.

    Already bought my SECOND D850

Posted by CMHImages on March 24, 2019

I´ve been shooting my first D850 for over a year now and loved it so much that I just purchased a second body. I work on expedition ships in harsh polar conditions so my gear has to be TOUGH and dependable. My D850´s fire every time no matter how cold or challenging the conditions. I love the huge files, fast and accurate focus and the tilt screen. I´ve owned lots of different bodies over the past 30 years and this is my favorite body BY FAR. Love it!

Amazing camera but a bit daunting at first

Posted by Polygonwrangler on March 17, 2019

So, right out of the gate, I am not a pro photographer. I simply enjoy taking photographs; wildlife, portrait, and insect macros. I´ve come from a humble D3200 that I´ve had since it first was first introduced to the D850 with nothing in-between and, wow, it was like going from a Chevy Malibu to an F-22 Raptor. I am very pleased with my purchase and the performance of the camera. It captures glorious frames with both my DX and FX glass. Brilliant all around camera. All the features were a bit overwhelming at first, however. Phew, there are so many fine-tunes and tweaks available on the 850 that I spent over a week playing with settings before actually doing serious shooting. I´m not complaining, I knew what I was getting into with a powerful camera like this, so be prepared to go through lots of setting adjustments to get the 850 where you want it to be. In the end, if you are ready to take the plunge and buy a high-end awesome camera . . . go for it.

    Pictures beyond expectations

Posted by Snuffy on March 15, 2019

The D850 delivers beyond all expectations. I also just purchased my first FX lens (24-85) - amazing results. The auto focus is fantastic for those of us that wear glasses. The pictures are crisp and clear from corner to corner.

    Fantastic camera

Posted by LoveNikon on March 13, 2019

The capture of details is truly amazing. Produces astonishingly high-quality photos. Autofocus works extremely well even in low lights. No low pass filter and 45 MP resolution make for gorgeous sharp, color-saturated images. The 4k video and the slow mo are just remarkable. The view finder is HUGE and even while wearing my glasses, I can see EVERYTHING without a problem. I also love having the touchscreen; it is easy to navigate to key settings and review images. Love the tilting screen.
    Still learning to use it.
Wish the lenses will be cheaper.

    Reach out and touch

Posted by Myriadelle on March 11, 2019

As a truly wild wildlife photographer, my models do not allow me to be as close as I would like. With 700 mm focal length, I don´t always get the photo I want. The D850 allows cropping without loss of detail. It allows me to reach out and touch my wildlife. Also, its dynamic range excels in capturing the details of fur and feathers, without sacrificing deep shadows or extremely bright light . Wildlife enjoys dusk and dawn. The D850´s sensor has exceptional low light capabilities. I´m impressed.

I began using Nikon in the late 1970´s because of its reputation for handling the abuse from an outdoor adventurer. My studio is the great outdoors and my cameras have been taken on adventures without being pampered or protected. My camera bodies show the same bumps and bruises as I do when we return to the comfort of home. I will always own Nikon and there will be one within arms reach no matter where I am.

Like a beautiful blue jay, the D850 is stellar!

Posted by Nikonista on March 10, 2019

What´s not to like? I prefer the heft of Nikon FX cameras and the D850 is no exception. I love its easy to navigate menu, the ease with which one can change (for example) ISO. Its buffer and improved fps over the D810 is exceptional and is already getting me great shots of BIF. One day I may upgrade my D300S (after passing it along to a family member who has no camera) and buy a 2nd D850. I have been shooting with Nikon gear since my first Nikkormat FTN in 1972, which I still own! The D810 improved upon the D800E, but the D850 outshines them all. I can hardly wait for the rumored Nikkor 600mm PF lens release.

    A worthy upgrade from a D610

Posted by DavidKellyPhoto on March 7, 2019

    I am a 20 year Nikon user. 6006 (film) -> F100 (film) -> D200 -> D7000 -> D610 -> D850. Moving from the D610 Full Frame (25 mpix) to the D850 (47 mpix) is a tremendous jump, same as moving from a D7000 DX to D610 FX.

SPORTS/SPEED: 7 fps at 47 mpix writing to 440 mbs XQD cards, I can take 40 compressed 14-bit NEF images before any buffer/card slow down. 40!

CONCERT: great bump up from the 610 for low iso

PORTRAIT: the ISO 64 has SO MUCH MORE dynamic range and oh, the colors!
