    Nearly perfect camera

Posted by Bentoni on January 30, 2019

As a professional photojournalist I have used Nikon´s flagship cameras for years. Although I still prefer the heft of the top-of-line Nikons, I find that the D850 has nearly everything I need a camera to have. The articulating live-view screen is a bonus, and the high resolution is like a dream come true. Image quality, color fidelity, and depth is the best I have ever seen. The 9 fps frame rate (with optional battery grip) makes it very usable for sports. My one wish is that it had the voice memo function which I rely on when shooting sports. To summarize; it has all the essential functionality of Nikon´s flagship camera – and more – at about half the price. What´s not to love?

Glad I moved to full frame

Posted by Perk on January 17, 2019

I have been working hard to improve and expand my wildlife photography. My other cameras have all been crop sensors. Following Nikon´s Ambassadors of wildlife photography, I have become ever more aware of the importance of showing not only the subject, but their surroundings too. The detail in the images captured on the D850 are very pleasing.

The best digital camera in my experience

    Posted by SatisfiedD850User on January 13, 2019

The internet is full of detailed reviews of the D850. It is, therefor, only necessary to mention a few strong points. These include ease of use, focus accuracy and image quality.

If you have previous experience with a similar Nikon DSLR, there won´t be much of a learning curve. Even if not, the controls are conveniently placed and the menu system is well designed. The touch screen allows quick menu item selection.

Focus accuracy is improved compared to, say, the D800. I have a higher percentage of action shot ´´keepers´´. The new user is advised, however, to read the manual or a second sourced guide for details of operation.

Image quality is excellent. Short of investing in a medium format system, it is probably the best available. In my case, the technical quality of 17 inch wide prints made from the D850 equals or exceeds that of 4000 dpi scans of 645 and 6 by 7 film.

In summary, the D850 satisfies my photographic needs. It´s a fine tool for almost any serious photographer.

Best camera I have ever owned!

Posted by Czar on January 13, 2019

Been working my way up the Nikon D series camera ladder, D100, D300, D750, and now D850 - It is fabulous camera! The focusing system and low light shooting abilities are far superior to anything that I have ever used. Only complaint is the WIFI / Bluetooth transfer to the connected devises was a bit of a learning curve. Buy it - you will love it!!!!!!!!!

    Upgrade to D850 from D7000

Posted by Jsperath on January 3, 2019

After upgrading from a D7000 that I had for many years to a new D850 I am blown away with the quality, low light capabilities, ease of transition to the new camera, ruggedness, and overall camera feel. Shooting video will be new to me and I can´t wait to see what I come up with. I do miss my on-camera flash but it is a minor inconvenience. I am looking forward to many years of shooting with this new acquisition.

    Dream Combo

Posted by EJARAN on January 1, 2019

I had the D500 and D4s which I thought was a great combo for sports and nature photography. After I Purchased the D850 I ended up selling the D4 S on eBay and have No regrets at all. Sure, I lost a couple frames a second but the resolution of the D850 blows away the images I made on the D4s. The auto-focusing ability is amazing in low light situations and the 45 megapixels give me the ability to crop if needed. The design is similar to the D500, so it is basically seamless to switch from one camera to the other as needed when shooting. I think I´ve found my dream combination!

    Best DSLR Ever

    Posted by Alaskatom08 on December 30, 2018

My wife surprised me with a Nikon D850 for Christmas, and it is the most amazing camera ever. All my gear is Nikon, and the D850 is easily the most capable and fantastic camera I own. I love the ability to use DX lenses on the full frame camera, and all my lenses fit the new camera. Over the years I have become accustomed to the Nikon menus, and learning the many wonderful features of the new camera was easy. I live in Alaska, and I now have another fine tool to capture the beauty of our state.

    Fantastic Camera Thus Far!

    Posted by Ray2018 on December 17, 2018

I went from a D3200 to the D850 so this was a major advancement for me with photography. I went from having limited capabilities with my basic starter DSLR (which I thoroughly enjoyed after almost 6 years) to this far advanced professional DSLR. I knew I had maxed out the capabilites of the D3200 and felt ready to further advance my photography skills. This D850 has exceeded my expectations already! I am very much into wildlife photography, and the focusing capabilities has allowed me to set up the camera with 3 buttons for instant focusing, with a capability of having 4. I am able to track moving subjects so much easier and proficiently with total accuracy. The megapixel resolution allows me to crop where necessary very easily without losing quality. I could go on and on with the cameras other capabilities, but I think you get the point. Can´y wait to build up my FX lens collection, yet I am able to still use my DX lenses in the meantime.
