    The DSLR ever made. Period.

Posted by Anonymous Shopper on April 6, 2025

What a fantastic camera even in 2025. Unfortunately Nikon has stopped making DSLR bodies in favor of EVF cameras, so this was perhaps my last chance to purchase a pro body with a true realtime viewfinder. The sensor performance still is at the top of the market and the ergonomics are first rate. And it has that lovely, lovely optical viewfinder. In short, buy one while you still can. I'm probably going to get a second body, while I still can.

    Historial

Posted by James Lee on April 6, 2025

It is a historical DSLR camera! I transitioned to Z8 & Z9 from D850 2 years ago but kept missing D850, could not get mind off. So, I bought again. Just a fantastic tool period!

    What an upgrade

Posted by ROY CORLEY on March 25, 2025

What an amazing camera! I've been using Nikon cameras and lenses since 1968 when I bought a Nikon FTN while I was in the military overseas. This is my 11th Nikon SLR/DSLR (along with numerous Coolpix cameras) and each iteration gets better. The D850 was a giant step up from my D810; there's going to be a learning curve. Thank you Nikon!

A huge leap forward from my D810. I am looking forward to discovering all the features of the camera and what it will help me create!

Still after 8 years of its release, a great camera, the best DSLR in the market. Hope Nikon will continue to support it and add as many features as possible

Keep your mirrorless crap, I love the D850

Posted by Garvin Carrell on March 10, 2025

The D850 is literally the standard that all other cameras should be compared to. It has the essentials with very little fluff, it is a tool that seriously photographers can use, period. I cannot stand the new mirrorless cameras, I feel like I am looking through a cheap camcorder…. I wish Nikon would consider to keep making professional DSLRs. I will buy a couple D850s and just hope they last forever.

    Nikon D850 ROCKS

Posted by Kevin Donnelly on May 9, 2024

I am not a professional photographer, in the sense that I do not make a living at it, however, I have been shooting for 48 years and the D850 is outstanding.

I purchased this body November 2023 and took it with me on my last visit to India, getting back 5 days ago. In both high and low light conditions, it performed flawlessly.

If there was a way to upload a photo, I would upload a shot taken just after sunset, where the crescent moon was at about 70 degrees, with the silhouette of a palm tree directly below, without a tripod, this photo was spectacular, tack sharp and not grainy...

Other photos I took were tack sharp and rich in colour, in all settings used; whether manual or shutter and aperture priority.

I used my Tamron 35-150mm f/2.8 for all shots taken with this camera since purchased new. I am very much looking forward to mounting my NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6 .

I did notice and was surprised with the battery life in that I only took about 350 shots and needed to change the battery out. That being said, it might be due to both the WiFi and Bluetooth being active.

Finally, I found SnapBridge to be a little slow and clumsy to use. However, for as much as I would use it, this is really a non-issue.

Overall, this camera, the features and the ease with programing, the photo quality and more, is simply amazing.

Of all the Nikon models I have owned, this camera outperforms all the others, hands down.
