Nikon D750 - All I had hoped for!

Posted by mjbuono on April 13, 2019

I labored over the decision to pull the trigger on getting this camera... now I regret waiting so long. It is everything that they say about it. It is probably all of the cameral that I will ever need. Thank you Nikon for including many of the features of more expensive cameras into this one... and actually improving them on this platform. No regrets. None at all!!!

I absolutely love this camera! I went from a d5200 to a d750 and the learning curve manageable. The camera is perfect for portraits and the quality is great. I would recommend this camera to anyone with a serious passion for photography!

    BEST DECISION EVER

Posted by Leslie on March 6, 2019

After owning and using a Nikon D7000 (crop sensor) camera for almost 8 years, I decided it was time to move up to a full-frame camera. Over the years, I have developed a penchant for photographing things that are a bit unusual and on the creative side. So quality really has become very important to me. What initially prompted me to move to a better quality camera was seeing the difference in the quality of images when I compared the D7000 to someone elses full-frame. The 24.2 megapixels on the D750 is a long way from the 16.1 megapixels on the D7000, and makes a huge difference in the quality of my photos. Dont get me wrong, I did get some great images with the D7000, but not professional-quality grade. I have become more discerning over the past ten years of practice. I could not understand why I wasn´t getting sharper images. The images one gets is determined not only by the quality of the lens, but by the type of camera one uses, as I have discovered. After some considerable research, I finally decided on the Nikon D750, especially since Nikon discounted it considerably. The menu was pretty easy to follow, since the D7000 had a lot of the similar features, and setting up the functions was a breeze because of my familiarity. There are a lot of sub-menus that have been added to the D750, some of which make it quicker to make camera setting adjustments. It does come with a 4x6 owners guide for those not familiar. Here are some of the features I like: The shutter is quick and smooth. The LCD is tiltable; a plus when you find yourself in an awkward position. It has a built-in flash, which I occasionally use as a fill-in. The hand-hold is much deeper, which I really like because the D750 with a Nikon FX mount 28-300 lens makes it a bit weighty, and it makes me feel like the camera is more securely in my hand. Just the camera body alone is 1.65 pounds, 7/10ths LIGHTER than the D7000 body. I like that the Info button is above the OK dial, which can be immediately accessed with your thumb. In Live View, you can use the PV (preview) button whereby you can see the changes in your picture as you make your adjustments for that perfect photo. Live View also has other shortcut features you can activate. After some searching, I found that the histogram can be found under the Playback menu, Playback Display Options or can be accessed in Live View. They did not make it very apparent. You can take photos using Live View, but the shutter release is a bit delayed. The other thing that I have to get used to is the Mode Dial button that has to be depressed to move the dial. Its a bit awkward. The D7000 did not have this. It does, however, prevent the Mode Dial moving unintentionally. This camera has so much to it that this review space cannot do it justice. I attempted to count the number of menu options and I came up with approximately 139, give or take. The Nikon D850 has 1600 and, of course, is much more expensive, and much more camera than I need or could afford. I also have a Nikon FX mount 105 macro lens and it works beautifully with this camera. The mount of the D750 is FX. If you use DX lenses, which Nikon says you can, the quality of the photos will diminish because the sensor is reduced to a crop-sensor. When you mount a DX lens on an FX camera, you will see a rectangular box in the middle of the viewfinder, which indicates the parameters of the photo that you will be taking. Anything outside of the box will NOT be in your picture. So, my husband has inherited my D7000 along with its corresponding lenses. Suffice it to say, overall it is a great camera and I do feel I made the right choice for me. I would like to add that because most of the camera retail stores have closed in my area, I have relied heavily on B and H Photography for meeting my needs. I am so pleased with their professionalism, quickness in getting my orders to me, and advice when I have needed it. I have looked at other websites and have ordered some things when B and H did not have the item; but B and H is my go-to for sure.

    I love my D750 - I bought a second one as a backup!

    Posted by KatieSc0tt on March 4, 2019

The D750 is a perfect size for me. I have friends who insist on more pixels and spend more on their cameras but this camera fits so well in my hand that I won´t upgrade beyond this until maybe I switch to the new mirrorless camera. But until then - this camera rocks!! I do both outdoor and studio photography.

The best Nikon I own and I own many

    Posted by marcywm42 on March 3, 2019

The D750 is the most versatile Nikon SLR I have owned (so far). It literally does everything from still to video. The live view and tilting view screen enables photos that would be very difficult otherwise. I can use every Nikon lens I own, manual and AF, dating back decades. I am rediscovering how sharp my old lenses are when used with the D750. It works great with an F-mount adapter for my 8 inch astronomical telescope. Just for the record I own and still use the following Nikon SLR´s: F3, FM3a, D1X, D700 and Df. The D750 is the best. All of my Nikon cameras and lenses are extremely reliable. My F3 is over 25 years old, is in mint condition and works perfectly. I expect my D750 to be in use for decades to come.

    Nikon Upgrade

Posted by VegasSid on March 3, 2019

This camera far exceeds my D70, D3200 and my 8008 from years ago. It is a bonus to be able to use my many lens purchased for many years. The second card slot and ease of use makes this a superior purchase. If you are a Nikon shooter try one, you´ll buy it.

    Awesome Camera

Posted by JimT on February 28, 2019

I have been shooting Nikon for the past 10 years and recently upgraded to the D750...all I can say is wow, what a great piece of equipment. This is my first full frame and I could not be happier, I toyed with the idea of moving to a mirror-less but after I got this in my hands on this I knew I made the right decision. Everything seems to be right where it needs to be. As far as image quality, that´s all up to the shooter....I can say I am very happy with the quality of the image´s so far.

I highly recommend the D750 and at the current price its a steal.

    Fantastic camera with limitless capabilities.

Posted by lenwaith on February 26, 2019

Coming from a D5100 which took great pictures the D750 blew me away with the quality of pictures and the smoothness when you take the shot. The controls are easy to use and having a flexible screen makes taking video easy. although heavier than my D5100 the D750 feels very comfortable when taking pictures. Having built in WIFI it makes picture transfer so much easier and saves time. The Nikon D750 has been a dream to work with thus far. A few of the features I enjoy the most are the double memory card slots, battery life, and accessibility options. No doubt this is the best Nikon i have owned so far..
