    Amazing image stabilization

Posted by Dlogue on July 3, 2019

The image stabilization is incredible at the long focal lengths. I use it mostly for a spotter camera/ scope when hiking. Then I try to get closer and use my D2x or D7200 to get better images.

I find the metering difficult and the camera often jumps off faces and exposes for brighter backgrounds in portraits. But I don´t use it for portraits very often. Overall it has become my “toddler” that I always toss in my trunk for unexpected opportunities.
The images are excellent when you consider this is a point and shoot camera. The images are generally usable if it turns out I can´t get closer with my pro equipment. My philosophy is, first get the shot then improve as I get closer. So this is useful when wild life may move on before I get close enough for my pro cameras and lenses.

    Awesome...just awesome!

Posted by TomTitanium on May 19, 2019

By the title of my review you can probably guess that I absolutely LOVE my P1000! As a freelance artist I need a great camera not only for reference photos, but to photograph my paintings so I can sell prints. I need a camera that takes accurate, high quality photos that will give a true reproduction of my paintings, and the P1000 is that camera. Besides using my camera for my work, I also love taking photos of the moon. Having the ´´super zoom´´ capability of the P1000 satisfies my desire to take large, up-close pics of our only natural satellite. In short, I find the P1000 to be awesome...just awesome!

    Amazing camera

Posted by Coolpixuser on May 16, 2019

I wanted to get back into photography after many years. I was using an SLR with a 28mm, a 70-210mm zoom, and a 100-300mm zoom as well as a 2X tele converter. Being retired, I couldn´t afford to buy the equivalent digital equipment, and was excited to find this camera. I am still learning how to use it effectively, and I am astounded and impressed with the zoom range. I am looking forward to entering contests again

Im an avid birder and I used a D3200 for a while until I saw the review for the P1000 , A friend recommended it for me and I bought one ,best decision I could make .The photo quality and zoom capability are second to none ,in my opinion , no longer do I have to sneak up on my subjects thanks for a great product

    Posted by Willie1038 on March 13, 2019

I love this camera ...cant get enough of it. I have been a nikon fan and have own several nikon cameras. But this baby has me excited. The main reason I purchased it cause I have a love affair with the moon and stars...so you guested it...p1000 is perfect for this love. I purchased it and immediately started taking pics and I am very excited. Just waiting for that FULL MOON to come my way. I purchased it before the full moon so my torture is to wait a month..lol. So far fantastic camera and very user friendly. Everyone should get one.

    P1000 bats 1000

    Posted by Yujin734 on March 5, 2019

During the Jan Lunar Eclipse, I was highly disappointed with my Nikon D5100 w/ 70-210 Telephoto lenses. The size if the pictures of the moon were about 1/4´´ at best (very grainy when blown up). I then found and purchased the P1000 and was greatly surprised at the pictures I was getting and at the distances involved. The Feb ´´Large´´ Moon came out about the size of a silver dollar and the ´´blowups-ups´´ are really nice. Now all I have to do is get the book and really learn how to put this camera to use. Only problem here in Hawaii is getting the spare batteries for the camera. Seem they are classed as ´´HAZMAT´´ and can´t be ordered for delivery via air or mail.

    Best Bridge Camera Out There!!

Posted by BonnieLee on March 3, 2019

If I could afford $10,000 dollar lenses, it would be great! But since that is no option, I purchase bridge cameras. This is by far the best out there!! The zoom is absolutely wonderful and I am able to capture wildlife at a distance easily. This camera REALLY reaches out there! Use a tripod to get the best results. This is my 3rd bridge camera and believe me, there is NOTHING out there that will come close to the Nikon P1000. Yes it is a little heavy...but worth it. Attach a Peak Design heavy duty camera strap (no equal for this easily adjustable strap) and you won´t have any difficulty. Had this camera for only 2 months and loving it!!

    The Non-Professional´s Holy Grail

Posted by Alligator on March 1, 2019

Finally, a camera that I can use to take nature pictures without chasing nature away AND at a cost way more reasonable than those professional 3 foot lenses. If you aim it to the East, you can see tomorrow. A picture of a new wedding couple at 200m shows their two college kids by 3000m. The most often said word about this camera, to anyone I show it, is: ´´INSANE!´´. If they haven´t read White´s book, don´t listen to the critics. The built-in software is awesome. Mine fits real well in the Nikon Holster. No complaints with anything. I found a long handled tripod mount with a 3´´ quick connect that allows me to off-center balance the camera for tripod use but the VR is fine for those other shots. I also bought the NIkon CPL and Nikon Protector fitler. I did get the Nikon wall mount battery charger and do not intend to charge the battery in the camera. Thank you NIKON, K
