Should be the 1st lens one should buy (unless you are going for the f/1.4G)

I have owned the D3100 (my first and only DSLR) for a grand total of 4 days.

I have owned AF-S 50mm f/1.8G for a grand total of 6 hours. It is my first lens outside of the 18-55mm kit lens.

I have edited these pics in RAWTherapee in GNU/Linux

The pictures are worth a thousand words.

    For the price, a must.

If you own a crop sensor or full frame camera, this lens is amazing. On crop bodies, it can be a bit tight in some situations; but the performance is amazing. When shooting wide open the images are very sharp at the center, which is what I like a lot more about this lens than the 35mm 1.8.

    Everyone should have one

When I bought my D600, I also purchased a 50mm f/1.4G along with several zoom lens. I wasn´t at all impressed with the f1.4G and returned it. It was slow to focus and just not as sharp as I expected it to be, especially for a $500 lens. My camera salesman suggested the cheaper 50mm f1.8G instead and after reading several reports on it, I bought one. Very nice results, very fast to focus, very sharp, great in low light and easy to carry around. A bargain as well.

    No regrets!

    love it!

I have been waiting on this lens for MONTHS Months. I´m so excited to finally have it!! It works wonders outdoors. I don´t have a speedflash (next investment) so indoors I tend to get blurry pics because of the low shutterspeed required for the depth of field (2.8 and lower). However, this is worth every penny.

You can still get amazing photos at higher fstops.

if you are new to a dslr wont to learn aperture settings and shutter speeds do to affect the picture u need a fix focal length lens and u have found it. this lens will make u fall in love with it like i did worth every dollor u spent on it. i use the new D3200 camera and it just makes the pictures pop with the new sensor.

This lens takes tack-sharp images even in low light situations. Jaw-dropping bokehs. Works great with DX and FX formats. Great for portraits, candids and general photography. Compact and lightweight design. An absolute must-have!!!
