    Camera of the future

Posted by JHNYC on March 25, 2019

I´ve had Nikon cameras since the 80´s, and this is my favorite camera ever. It´s solid, works great, and the connectivity really makes the camera the camera of the future. I sold my 850 (of course before Nikon offered the rebates) and now have two Z6´s.

    Nikon Z6 My thoughts

Posted by Penmar on March 25, 2019

I love the Z6, I opted for the Z6 over the Z7 because I don´t need the larger files. I shoot motorsports and yes I use this camera for that purpose. It´s great for stills and video. I love the articulating LCD screen as many times I will be low to the ground taking pics. Only issue(s) I have is that there is no way to lock focus or disable the joystick. I use back button focus and my thumb is always touching the joystick and moving focus and as I don´t have the time to recompose images when shooting drag races, this is a problem for me. Image posted: Nikon Z6, Sigma 24-105 Art lens with the FTZ Adapter - Aperture Priority, ISO 100, 1/800th, f/4, no flash.

Great replacement for my Nikon Df

Posted by AbeK on March 25, 2019

I´ve been a professional Nikon user all my life. But what I really did not like about the shift to digital SLRs was how large and heavy they became compared to professional film cameras. It´s what I loved about my Nikon Df, finally a smaller DSLR that delivered D4 quality in a small package. And now mirrorless has come along and reestablishes a small form factor with professional quality and performance. The Z6 is the perfect upgrade to my Df. It has what I consider the sweet spot of resolution (24 megapixels) and all of the quality and performance of a professional digital camera. Awesome job, Nikon!

    An excellent camera!

Posted by Scrondar on March 25, 2019

I rolled the dice on the Z6 kit after reading everything on it I could find. I´m giving it five stars not because it´s perfect or even the best of the mirrorless choices out there, but because it feels great in hand and takes fantastic images, both with native S and F adapted lenses. Yes, it has some shortcomings, but I am confident these will be corrected in firmware updates. If you are a seasoned Nikon shooter, the menus will be familiar; the rest you will have to learn, but that´s half the fun of photography, at least to me. I look forward to a bright future for the Z line.

    Z6 In Love

Posted by Ferdara on March 23, 2019

Nikon Shooter for years, with an arsenal of Nikon glass. My d850 is still the Mac Daddy, but for everyday, travel, and family shots I rock it with the Nikon Z6. Small light weight and very robust, rich in familiar features. Loving the full frame with five axis image stabilization, I shoot a lot of photos of air to air and air to ground when flying my airplane and this camera does it the best at slow shutter speeds to get the proper prop blur. In Love again. Z6 .... excited about the new Nikon lenses to come for the z.

Amazing camera but not great deal for early adopters.

Posted by DJCAMPOS on March 22, 2019

I bought the Z6 back in December as a replacement for my old and very loved D7100. Having used it since then I can tell that is an amazing piece of technology, very able to deliver great photos under almost every condition. Having said that it is also true that the autofocus is not the best in class, especially with moving objects. Another complaint is the marketing strategy; the adapter should have been given for free from the beginning!

    Almost Perfect

Posted by Pojoaque on March 21, 2019

Good - An outstanding camera - comfortable to hold and shoot, Light to carry, excellent image quality even at relatively high ISO´s. Most older lenses fit - with VR and auto exposure in A and M for them a blessing.
Bad - No focus confirmation light with non-chipped lenses. No focus motor for AF / AF D lenses. For a professional quality camera - these are true shortcomings.

This is the best Nikon in 50 years.

Posted by pcman on March 21, 2019

I have been using Nikons since my first SLR, a black 1969 FTN, which I still own and display. I take a lot of architectural photos, and the Z6 works fine with the F adapter and my 19mm, 24mm, older 28 mm, and 35mm perspective-control (PC) lenses as well as the superb Z lenses. I have ordered and wait anxiously for the 14-30mm Z lens. I would have liked a built-in flash, but thje Z6 uses my various Nikon flashes well, includling a couple I have owned for years. It would be nice of the 19mm and 24mm lenses came in Z mounts, but that is not a serious matter as the F adapter works fine.

    Truly Impressive...

    Posted by VPZ6 on March 21, 2019

From day one I´ve been very impressed with the capabilities of the Z 6. Low light performance is incredible, for stills and and for video. Wireless and bluetooth connectivity has been a huge help to my social media workflow allowing for quick shares while I´m traveling or shooting an event. Silent shutter is so much more useful than I ever imagined... perfect for candid shots or intimate settings. The FTZ adapter allows me to use all of my other Nikon glass which makes this Z 6 body an even more worthwhile investment. Paired with the new 24-70 f/4, probably the best kit lens ever sold with a camera body, the Z 6 is a perfectly versatile camera I will carry on me for all of my travels and events.
