I love this camera
Posted by Imitating on April 17, 2019
This is not only my first mirrorless, but also my first full-frame as I came from a D5100. This camera is so fast and captures so much light, I´m in love. I am also very impressed with the new Z Mount system and accompanying lens. I currently own the the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S and cannot wait to get my hands on the NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S. I have also been using the FTZ mount adapter with a AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR and it works seamlessly.

Very Happy
Posted by Cdog320 on April 17, 2019
Being a long time Nikon user I quickly got up to speed with the Z6. full frame mirrorless is a different ballgame and it did take some getting use too in that respect. Immersing yourself in the new configuration is a great way to adopt a new system. I can´t say enough about the clarity and rich colors right out of the camera, and being new to video it has opened up world with slow motion and in camera time lapse. I still rely on my D500 for flight shots (bird photography) but static bird photos and landscape the Z6 shines.

Having fun with my ai lenses and even my Leitz summicrons from the 1950s. Amazing to see the full frame renditions

Reliable, fast and compact
Posted by MikeinRaleigh on April 17, 2019
I bought the Z6 as a retirement gift to myself. I never owned a DSLR, but after reading reviews, bought the Z6 with the 24-70mm f4 lens. After 3 days of getting acquainted with it, we took a 4-week cruise from Lima to Buenos Aires through the Straits of Magellan. The weather was unusually cooperative, and served up some once-in-a-lifetime views of volcanoes, glaciers, sea lions, penguins, and dramatic sunrises and sunsets. The Z6 did not disappoint. Utterly fabulous results with each shutter click. So glad I took the plunge. It was easy to use, highly portable, and a wonderful tool for capturing memorable photos. Especially for a rank amateur.

worth the switch
Posted by jonc on April 17, 2019
Longtime pro now using Z cameras almost exclusively. Biggest change in what I can film since D3. Viewfinder is amazing, much easier to get used to than I expected. Super sharp S lenses, wonderful out-of-camera color, solid professional product, LCD touch screen that works. Love having silent option. XQD is reliable and super fast. Focus accuracy for still subjects is spot on; I can finally use a 50mm (the S version) wide open with confidence! Battery life -- go through 2 batteries per day on super intense assignments, but really not an issue. Video works well! Compact and comfortable to carry around. Fairly easy to shift from other Nikon bodies to these ones because most controls are similar. Reasons for 4 stars, rather than 5: Autofocus not as quick to use with moving subjects as my mirrored cameras, so still use a D810 for most action photography. Looking forward to software upgrade that will add ´´eye-focus´´. Front function buttons sometimes pushed inadvertently because of small camera size (otherwise love the smaller size), so I´ve stopped using them -- could be solved with a vertical grip, perhaps? Lens adapter works well with long lenses like 70-200/2.8, but doesn´t feel as responsive with my 28/1.4. ´´S´´ lenses are terrific. I´ll try to stick with those as much as possible and hope Nikon quickly introduces more. Wish ´´control set´´ had even more options -- I use it all the time. The first time I took a Z6 on assignment, I also carried several mirrored Nikon bodies. After the first day, I was using the Z6 almost exclusively. I missed a few quick action photos that I would have gotten with the other cameras, but otherwise felt like my overall photography vision and responsvieness improved. If Nikon can bring the Z focus up to Nikon D850/D5 standards, these Z cameras will become the primary tools for most Nikon pros.

Great Low Light capabilities
Posted by daveintheOC on April 17, 2019
Amazing abilities in low light and no audible noise. I shoot a lot of shots in a theater and the shots come out great and no one is getting upset with the noise of my other dslrs.

Can´t get enough of this camera, my first full frame.
Posted by entarget on April 17, 2019
I have both a D7200 and the new Z6 and I am working on the learning curve to make the transition but have already fallen in love with the ability to check absolute focus with out taking my eye from the EVF. I´m looking forward to more new Z mount lenses.

Well Matched to General Photography
Posted by AlanL on April 17, 2019
While there are a few things a high-end DSLR does a little better, I would argue that the Z6 might be one of the best cameras for general photography. This camera has a lot of strengths over DSLRs that make it better, in my opinion, for the types of situations most of us non-specialists find. I particularly like the wide focus point coverage that allows me to choose a location well away from the center of the frame and getting fast, accurate focus there. The current Z-mount lenses are so good I use them most of the time, but I´ve had very good luck using F-mount lenses with the FTZ adapter as well. I also enjoy using focus peaking for manual lenses that are hard to get good focus with using DSLRs. It´s a fun camera to use, designed with an abundance of high-end features, that has allow me, in fact, helped me to produce better images than I have talent.

Z6

It took me a bit to get used to the mirrorless frame but know that I´ve used it a few times it feels custom fit, and I love all the extra setting and features.
