    Love the focus improvements

Posted by Matt H on August 22, 2025

I upgraded from my Z6ii for the improved subject tracking and video features and I am happy I did. The camera’s focus performance is quite responsive and accurate which is most evident when shooting video. Focusing seems to be on par with the Z8 and fits my budget better. Great addition to my camera collection.

    Everything I expected!

    Posted by H D. on July 23, 2025

I am very familiar with Nikon mirror-less cameras. I have a Z7II for work and work with Z9s routinely. I considered a Z7II or Z8, but decided 24.5 MP was sufficient and I wanted the better low light capability. I have not done that much with my camera yet other than familiarizing myself with it. I am finding it to be a little more advanced than the Z7II. To me, it is more of a Z9/Z8 little brother than the Z7II (which I think is a phenomenal camera). The images I have taken are excellent and that's with all F-mount lenses. I will be getting some Z-mount glass in the future, but I have a pretty decent complement of F-mount lenses, so I am starting with those. So far, it's everything, and more, than I was expecting.

    Great Camera!

Posted by KENT S. on July 22, 2025

First MILC. I am enjoying using it. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that, when compared to my DSLRs (D5600, D500, D750), it feels like a box of electronics whereas a DSLR feels like a proper machine.

My 1st mirrorless and still learning what the Z6iii can do!

Posted by Mike on July 19, 2025

This is my first mirrorless camera and I’m still learning what it can do. I’m still using my F-mount lenses including one from Tokina with a FTZII Adapter and they all worked great. I made sure all my lenses were compatible with the FTZII before mounting them on the camera. I can’t wait to see what the Z6iii can do with Z lenses. I did buy a how to book on the Z6iii and it explains the settings you need to know before taking your first shot. My D500 is a great camera but the Z6iii is shaping up to be so much more! There is one annoying thing about the design is the strap connector by the card slots gets in the way from the door fully opening up when you insert or remove the cards. But you just flip it out of the way and the access door opens fully.

    Totally surprised

Awesome camera, outperforms Canon RII hands down. I am still using old F lenses via FTZ II adapter but surprised to see outcome. I am sure Z lens will give another uplifting.. waiting to buy some Z lenses.

Extremely capable backup to my Z 8

Posted by David J. on July 10, 2025

Great all around camera! I bought the Z 6lll as a backup to the Z 8. Autofocus is terrific. Very capable. I mainly use it for landscapes, flowers, etc....great little brother to the Z 8.

    Not intuitive

Posted by Dean on July 9, 2025

This may be to much camera for me. It has so many functions. When I reach out to Nikon help line, they are unable to help me. As an example I reached out for help to be able to download pictures, but no success. The help line spent an hour with me and then told me it was quitting time and he had to go. He may have tried to call back and I missed him. Still can't get my camera to connect via bluetooth or wifi. Also have difficulty getting it to focus on the subject I want.

    Great wildlife camera

Posted by JACK L. on July 8, 2025

The z6iii is an awsome camera. I have a z8 with a 600 pf lens and a 100-400 lens for closer shots. I purchased the z6iii with the idea I would put the 100-400 on it for closer shots. That is working well. Would love to see nikon ad the cycle AF mode to the custom controls section of the z6iii. When shooting wildlife, especially birds it is common to need to change your af mode quickly. The z8 has that feature and I use it often. Z6iii is an awsome camera for the price.

    Stellar Value; Oh-So-Competent Camera

Posted by Todd A. on July 6, 2025

I am coming from a Z6ii and Z5, both of which were traded in toward this camera and a Z50ii (review pending).Because I am leaning increasingly toward wildlife and action photography, this camera represents a significant step up in obvious and not-so-obvious ways. That said, however, it more than suffices for my nature and landscape photography, as it will yours if 24 mp is sufficient. The obvious: greatly enhanced subject detection and “stickiness” of autofocus once the subject is acquired. GREATLY enhanced, and so very customizable. The less obvious: Button and dial customization are superb—simply superb—as are nuances of what can be accomplished through the menus: display settings, tailoring of autofocus, and ongoing.I was initially leery of the weight gain reported over the Z5 and Z6; I needn’t have been. The camera is very comfortable to hold and operate, with all controls falling quickly to hand. That it can be tailored to suit older generation button configurations is lovely, but users of other brands can similarly tweak settings to match. Too, the electronic shutter is quick enough that I routinely use it to capture wildlife action silently. The strap lug issue—getting in the way of the card door—is real, and is mind-boggling given Nikon's transcendent engineering in so many areas. I always use Black Rapid straps, so the strap lug is not utilized and comes off for my use, but a regular neck strap would absolutely require some careful maneuvering.Weather proofing was never an issue with my prior cameras, and did not see me intimidated by steady rain; this camera apparently is improved even over those. This is a robust, yet svelte and capable beast, though not so svelte as to leave large hands groping for a grip.I confess one slight disappointment, but only in relation to another same-generation camera: When focusing on birds amidst foliage, the Z50ii with its bird-specific focusing does regularly beat this one in its current, non-bird-specific state. I fully believe in the truth of the admonition that you purchase the camera as is, not counting on a firmware update. I am very pleased with my camera as is, and have not missed the cameras I traded in, both excellent in their own rights and fiscal strata. The Z6iii, however, will surely please yet more once it acquires the much-anticipated bird focus.Especially when a discount is offered, this camera is a superb value, and even when not on sale, as of July, 2025, represents the leading edge of its price domain across all brands.
