Nikon Z5ii powerful full frame mirrorless

Posted by Matthew Stankiewicz on February 25, 2026

My first experience with Mirrorless and full frame format camera, could not be happier with my purchase of the Nikon Z5ii. The camera has been a joy for wildlife and travel photography and the BSI sensor is stunning for image quality and clarity even at high ISO. I also appreciate the customization of shooting controls, dual SD card slots, tough weather sealed build, and ergonomics. The Z mount is such a great format for collecting light and image sharpness, the only limitations are learning photography settings and lens construction, which it seems lenses are getting better every year. The autofocus works great, and I usually switch between wide frame and auto area for wildlife. (Pro tip: setup User modes U1 to U3 for quicker settings for specific situations i.e. birds, portraits, landscapes) The Z5ii represents the pinnacle of value and features on the Mirrorless camera market right now, and I cannot wait for all the adventures I will take with this camera!

    Capable, Configurable, and Affordable

Posted by Andrew McIntyre on February 23, 2026

I am thoroughly enjoying the Z5II. Its focusing capabilities are much better than my Z6. Now that I have the user and custom controls settings configured, I am finding it to be a very capable and user-friendly camera. I deeply appreciate Nikon making such a great camera at my price point.

Great step up from my D7200

I am very pleased with my new Z5ii. The picture quality is far superior with much less noise, allowing me to use the 24-200mm kit lens at ISOs much higher than I've ever used before. I love the new features, but kind of miss the mirror noise :)

    Best Option!

Posted by William Pastuszak on February 10, 2026

I wanted to return to Nikon and full-frame after many years of using another brand. After looking into all of Nikon's full-frame mirrorless cameras (Z5ii, Z6iii, Z7ii, Z8, Z9) I thought it was a no-brainer to go with the Z5ii. It really does have everything you need at a price point that can't be beat for what you're getting. I purchased it along with the Nikon 24-120mm F4 S and 50mm F1.8 S lenses. Image quality, camera functions, setup menus are all great.

    Great camera, Great company!

Posted by Louis Passante on February 8, 2026

I have owned 15-16 cameras in my life and this is the best one I have ever owned. I was a serious Canon customer, and this is my first Nikon. I will never go back to Canon. Nikon offers more lenses and more affordable lenses. They also allow third party companies available for their cameras (e.g. Tamron).I also find the menu set-up easier. I was always a fan of Nikon's binoculars, having owned 5-6, now their cameras join the list.

    Z5ii

Upgrading from a d3400 was the best decision that I have made in years. I love my Nikon cameras. I can't wait to try it in a low light concert setting.

    No Regrets

Very happy with the Z5II so far having upgraded from a D5300. While there are a lot of similarities there is still a lot to learn.

    Polite camera with big ambitions!

Posted by Harvey Llantero on January 30, 2026

The Nikon Z5 II is a fantastic camera for its price point. It’s more than just good; it’s a serious camera with a gentle ambition. It doesn’t aim to be the top-of-the-line model, but it doesn’t feel like it’s missing out either. The autofocus is spot-on and keeps up well. Fast motion still has a bit of a learning curve—I’m still figuring out which settings work best—but the system itself is capable and easy to understand. Once it locks, it stays locked. The camera is very responsive, even when shooting lossless RAW and in burst mode. There’s no lag, no waiting for it to catch up.The body feels solid. The buttons are easy to find and customize. I’m still getting used to all the functions, but the design isn’t too complicated, and nothing feels hidden or overly complex. It’s the kind of camera that lets you shoot first and learn as you go.Transferring files is easy, wireless or sd transfer. The NEF files are forgiving in post-processing, assuming the app you’re using supports the current format. When it does, the files hold up well and give you plenty of room to work.In terms of features, it’s pretty close to the Z6 III, with only minor differences that a beginner or intermediate shooter like me won’t notice in everyday use. What’s more important is that it doesn’t get in the way. At no point does the camera feel like it’s holding me back. What more can I ask for?!

    Great camera!

Posted by Steven Scarborough on January 29, 2026

I traded my Z5 for this and I am happy I did. I couldn't decide between the Z6iii and this one but decided on the Z5ii. There is so much tech in this camera for the price I paid! I am slowly figuring out all the new stuff but so far it is perfect. It takes beautiful images. I have it coupled with the 24-120 S lens. For what is considered to be an entry level camera this is amazing. I never missed not having the LCD on the top like the 6 and 7 have. I am looking forward to getting it completely set up and getting out with it!
