    Very impressive camera.

Posted by Ted B. on June 3, 2025

This camera was purchased by me as a gift for my granddaughter. When I tested it upon receipt I knew I made an excellent decision. I visited her this past weekend. She tested it along with the 2 lenses and was thrilled. I have the Z8 which is more weighty ( I am 93 yrs so it is a factor.) but something like this product could be in my future as a walkaround to fit in my pocket. Light weight products that have terrific features make a lot of sense. She loves it.

    Love it!

Love this little camera. It takes fantastic pictures, it has everything a pro camera, but its light weight makes it superior. I highly recommend this for most photographers you’ll get the same results in most situations.

    A d500 replacement?

Posted by neal, k. on June 1, 2025

Great little camera. I own a z9 and d850. Both are very heavy. Getting older I sometimes just need something to throw in a backpack or even just in the car. This camera fits that bill. But I didn't expect it to be a baby z8. Or even a d500 replacement. It's pretty close. It does everything I need for whatever I choose to do. It's Even a half stop better at high iso than my d500 was and it's the same sensor as that camera. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles as the big boys and I dont always need that. This is just a great little camera. Buy it before Nikon figures out they priced it to low. lol!

Z50II is a great performing camera in a small body

Posted by Israel P. on May 31, 2025

I've had the Z50II for about two weeks. So far, it's an impressive camera. I own the Z7II and the Zf, so coming from older generation camera (Z7II) and the current generation camera(Zf), the Z50II resembles much like the Zf in terms of performance. The image quality is fantastic. Mostly no one will be disappointed with it. The Z50II autofocus system is a great improvement over the Z50 with speed and accuracy. The autofocus system with 3D tracking works quite well when capturing my children and cats. This camera is lightweight and small, making it easier to travel or simply to carry it with you. With an F to Z adapter, I adapted the 35mm f1.8g DX and 50mm f1.8g to this camera and works with no issues. The grip is deep for such a small camera, it is very comfortable to hold. The button layout is more in line with the newer Z5II and the Z6III, which is different from my Z7II and Zf, so I'm getting adjusted to it. I love the articulating screen for the camera body. The one thing that is missing for this camera is IBIS. I shoot mostly with prime lenses and none of them have the Vibration Reduction (VR) built into the lenses. The kit lenses perform well, but I want larger apertures for my lenses. I know adding IBIS to this camera would make it more expensive to purchase, but if Nikon were to add it or have a different APS-C camera body with it, it would make this camera even better than it is. Overall, I'm happy with the improvements of the Z50II. If anyone is still using a DSLR camera, the Z50II is a great way to enter in the mirrorless system. You can purchase a F to Z adapter as an option to continue to use your F mount lenses with this camera. It is also great for a 2nd camera body, or in my case, a 3rd. If you travel and want a compact camera kit to take, this camera is a great choice for it.

    Wow

What can I say. My best telephoto is a D model with a screw drive. Manual focus only. So being able to subject track in manual focus is a game changer! Photos are amazing! What an upgrade from my original Z50. The same battery issues but you deal with it.

Amazing camera coupled with my Nikkor AF VR 80-400mm 4.5-5.6 D lens. Having subject tracking in manual mode is a game changer. Can’t imagine this beast with a great telephoto with autofocus. Light year leap from the original Z50!!!

    Great Upgrade to First Mirrorless

Posted by Mary S. on May 23, 2025

I’ve only had the Z50ii for a few weeks but already know it was the right upgrade for me. (I previously used a Nikon D5600.) while I’m still learning all of the features I can see how it has helped me capture crisper, better, shots when out birding. I’m shooting mostly on M and appreciate the finger tip availability to quickly adjust shutter speed and aperture. Budget-wise, this hit the sweet spot, too. It was an appropriate decision for me to stay with crop sensor instead of full-frame and doing so meant I could buy an adaptor for under $300 that allows me to use my existing lenses. For my first foray into mirrorless, this has been great.

I would give it a 5 star, but the battery seems to not last long.

    Z3

Switch from a D5500 to Z50II and I've been loving it, it is worth every penny if you want to start doing some nature photography as well.
