I went from a Nikon ZF to the Z50II. The Z50II produces very sharp photos with greater reach in a smaller form factor. The ZF is a great camera but I actually prefer the rendering of the Z50II better. The Z50II coupled with the new 16-50mm F2.8 lens punches way above its weight class. I don’t know why people insist on calling it an “entry level” camera. I also have a Nikon Z7II but I grab the Z50II for most uses. There is a reason why so many Nikon D500 users refuse to give up their aging APS-C DSLR cameras. The same sensor is used in both the D500 annd Z 50II and the photos from both are nothing short of remarkable.

I have been a life-long Nikon shooter, so I've used several camera bodies produced by Nikon. For the value the Nikon Z50II is hard to beat. I realize I gave it a 4 star rather than a 5 and I'm possibly being unfair to the Z50II, but I am comparing it to other bodies. I love the weight and body itself. The grip feels like it should be on a far more expensive camera. The menu system is familiar since I've used the Z7II and the Z8. The focus is superior to the Z7II and close to the Z8, if not the same. Can you use this camera for just about any type of photography for a low price, a big YES. It will cover the bases and is great as a street and general walk around camera. Does it compete with the Z8 for wildlife, not in my opinion. The Z8 is superior, but it should be for the price point. That's why I fully admit that maybe my review is not completely fair. As a travel camera, I would possibly prefer the Z50II for the weight and the fact that my full-frame lenses work great on the Z50II as long you realize you're using them on a crop factor body. It is a wonderful camera for what it's designed to be. Hard to beat and I bought this over much higher priced cameras and don't regret my choice. I am enjoying it the more I use it, but if you expect it to replace a Z8 or Z9 as your workhouse, that is where I would offer some pause. If there was a 4.5 rating that would have been my choice. I have seen where some have called this a mini Z8, not sure I would go that far since I shoot a lot of wildlife. For times when you can don't need a super-fast shutter or IBIS, then I could see where some might think you can say it's a mini Z8.

Simply one of the best Nikon cameras I have owned. Intuitive,rugged, and an all around pleasure to use. Purchased refurbished and id be hard pressed to tell it from a new. Oh, and the best part, the photos, the colors, focus is lightning fast love, love, love it. Nikon shooter for life.

I had my Z50II for more than a week now. For my casual photography, not find any weakness yet. It is very suitable for anybody of fairly photography.

As a professional photographer, my income depends on limiting my investment in camera bodies and lenses. Rather than spend money on a Z-9, Z-8, Z7ii, Z6iii, etc., I invested in the Nikon ZF to meet my full frame need. Over the years I have purchased used lenses of the f/2.8 variety. Lately my faithful D500 finally took its last image and I was trying to decide whether I needed a crop sensor camera to use when covering high school sporting events. After reading reviews, I decided to invest in the Z50ii. I had bought the original Z50, but gave it to my son because it couldn't touch the D500. However, I am thrilled with the Z50ii because it has so many features that makes my job easier in capturing moving subjects. The auto focus is extraordinary and what a great investment. I now have all bases covered and for very reasonable investments.

I got this camera thinking it would be some where between beginner and intermediate level but i soon found out that it is much more than a decent camera. This camera is a true powerhouse, the image quality easily surpasses many beginner DSLR cameras, and the auto focus tracking is near perfect for bird watching, but when I attached it to the 180-600mm mirrorless lens all I can say is WOW this little camera with a good lens can easily overtake many more expensive cameras and i would pay twice as much as i did for this camera. it has many cool settings on it, even the starlight setting which is usually on more expensive models and exellent exposure compensation. Well done Nikon!

I wanted a compact but capable camera for my focus stacking close up photography that could also fill in as a street rig and landscape capable system and the Z50 II is absolutely perfect camera that handles all those request. I am very pleased that the menu system nearly perfectly matches my Z8 and Z6 III. I am very pleased and satisfied with the performance and features that are packed into this small package. I will likely use the Z50 II more than my FX bodies. I love it.
