    My New Walkaround/Backup Camera

Posted by Harvey Duze on October 25, 2025

Was looking for a lightweight walkaround camera system which also could serve as a backup to my Z6III and Z8. The Z50II fits the bill perfectly, both in incredible image quality, matching the both my larger cameras in a smaller, lighter package. In addition to the three DX lenses I purchased for this camera, I love that the larger FX lenses and the two teleconverters I have for the larger cameras are fully compatible with no loss of quality. While the Z50II doesn't have all the bells and whistles that my Z6III and Z8 have, the batteries tend to run out quicker, it still earns 5-stars and is a great addition to my camera bag.

    Lightweight Powerhouse.

Posted by Daniel Lux on October 17, 2025

My wife and I have shared this camera for about two months and we absolutely love it. She has a Z6iii and I have a Z8 so we got the Z50ii as a back up camera for either of us to use. I've used it for a variety of subjects and I'm very impressed with the autofocus capability. While it lacks some of the options of its big brothers and sisters, it is still very impressive. The size and weight are a real benefit though I must admit it's a little small for my big hands. I've used it with the FTZ converter and a 300mm pf lens, giving me the full frame equivalent of 450mm, an amazing light weight wildlife combination.

    One happy owner!

Posted by Ryan N. on September 25, 2025

Amazing camera. Loved it since I bought it. I already have a Nikon Z5 that I use for shooting clients. But I wanted Z50ii because I love having a crop sensor camera and all things that they can do. I use to own the D7100,D7200 and most recently the D7500. Nikon does an awesome job with the crop sensor lineup.I'm really enjoying the Picture Control features. There is no limit to the creativity you can have with this camera. Also lets talk about the ergonomics. The Z50ii is lightweight, feels great in your hand and the Z lenses are lighter than the F Mount. This is important if you plan on holding your camera for hours at a time. Why are you still reading this? Make that purchase and don't look back!

Love it. I am a beginner and I love how practical and easy to use this camera is. I would love for nikon to have more videos on how to use it but other than that, it is great!

    My new favorite EDC camera!

Posted by George B. on August 21, 2025

Hi, I did a lot of research and tried one other APSC camera which did not work out for me. IMHO...My new Nikon Z50 II is just fantastic and just what I had hoped for in my first Mirrorless camera. The ergonomics and weight is better than I could have hoped for. I was really surprised with the EVF which although on the smaller size is much brighter and sharper than any other APSC EVF that I have tried in this price class. The menu's are intuitive and the images are really beautiful. I especially like the Picture Controls feature and two of my favorites so far are the Vivid and the Deep Monotone. I bought mine with a 24mm f1.7 which is really versatile and fun. I am planning on adding a Sigma 56mm f1.4 because in the past my favorite focal length has always been 85mm which I've used mostly for street and portrait work down through the years.

    Having fun again with photography

Posted by Donald J. on August 17, 2025

Having this new camera has reignited my interest in taking pictures -- and not just when going on vacation. I have several DX lenses that can be used with the FTZ adapter over a wide range of focal lengths. It is light weight and the controls seem to be just where I need them to be.
