I like the Z50II better than the Z50

Posted by Glynn Wilson on October 29, 2026

I like the Z50II better than the Z50. My Z50 was stolen, so my replacement is the Z50II. I was consistently irritated with the "+" touch button on the display of the Z50 and am pleased that it doesn't exist on the Z50II. Since I have to use my left eye on the viewfinder, I was often hitting the "+" with my nose on the Z50. I'm also pleased that the controls are similar enough to all my previous Nikons that the transition from one camera to the next is painless. Seems like the Z50II auto focus is better.

    Wonderful camera

Posted by Eric Shimp on October 28, 2026

I've had some good cameras in the past, started with a D70, then D90, then D7000. I loved the D7000 but found myself leaving it at home because I didn't want to lug it around. Went from D7000 to Z50, much easier to carry. Upgraded from a Z50. The Z50 was great but my nose touched the screen display + button every time I took a picture. This Z50II moved the buttons off the screen, also the grip is easier for me to hold. I shoot raw and both cameras allow me to bring some detail out of an underexposed picture without the noise I had on the D7000.

Put the fun back into photography instead of technology

Posted by Mark Faccone on October 9, 2026

Over the years, Nikon, you've taken the fun out of cameras. Built them with technology instead of simplicity. Most fun camera I ever owned was the D40. Simple, easy to shoot, and for the day -good picture quality. Then came the D300s. Complicated shootings banks. But still a good camera. I know, there were several ASPC cameras in between. D90, D7200 etc. as there will always be a new and improved camera body released. Then I went to FX D750. Heavy, expensive glass. Then mirrorless, Z6ii Z5ii and now back to a more simple camera Z50ii. Simple, if you want it to be, but a lot of settings that will take the fun out of photography. Now I hear you are releasing a z70 possible pro version like the D300 or something. I doubt I will purchase it. Z50ii might be my last camera.

    Enjoying The Moon Shots!

Posted by Neal Neal on October 6, 2026

I started out with a Nikon D5000 and enjoyed it. It took great photos so I bought a 75-300mm lens for it and started taking pictures of the moon then after about 10 yrs. I sold it. I wanted another Nikon so I started searching for the best Nikon to shoot moon pictures with and it brought up Nikon Z50ii so I went to Best Buy and bought the Z50ii with the lens kit.I try to take it out as much as possible for moon shots but haven't quite yet gotten it down to a T yet.

Excellent rapport qualité / prix. Fonctions et menu instinctifs. Léger et bonne prise en main.

Tons of settings, low battery life, nice photos for the most part

Posted by Lacey Perez on September 14, 2026

The settings are going to take some time to learn there are a ridiculous amount of them which once learned I'm will make things easier to do in general, seems like they are a lot of on camera editing settings. Low light and night time sports or action photos are grainy and can't seem to find the perfect settings to correct that as they appear to be ok when viewed on the monitor but once transferred are still pretty dark. I like how the viewfinder is illuminated digital looking. Daytime photos are turning out excellent. Battery life could be better especially if you plan on wireless transfer immediately after a photo session. Would be beneficial to get an extra battery pack.

Love the camera, hate the software.

Posted by Ted Owens on August 31, 2026

Takes great pictures, but the camera and the software are too complicated. I have been unable to connect to NX Mobile Air or Nikon Image Space.

Apparently excellent, but with an uncharacteristically steep learning curve.

Posted by Joseph S on August 28, 2026

I've used Nikons at least as far back as the D80. Based on limited use of the Z50II to date I find that its intriinisic capacities to obtain sharp focus where I want it and exposure how I want it are superb. While it seems to be very well designed (in the Nikon tradition), these advantages come at a cost: a learning curve that the steepist I've ever encountered.

Nikon Z 50 II and Lens Kit

Posted by Rose MaiLan on August 26, 2026

Nikon - Z50II 4K Video Mirrorless Camera with Two Zoom Lenses, the NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm and NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm VR Lenses - BlackI bought this at a local Best Buy store, because I just couldn’t trust the shipping and delivery process to not accidentally drop and cause damages to the camera and lenses. I’m a complete beginner at photography and cameras with removable lenses, and before buying this Nikon Z 50ii, I only knew point and shoot cameras and iPhones. So, I really cannot give any professional reviews on this camera and kit lenses. However, I’ve tried to use the camera and the NIKKOR Z DX 50-250mm VR lens to capture my daughter in her beautiful and wonderful youth, and I really liked the camera + lens. I’ll add a few photos to this “beginner’s review” so you can see what the camera and lens can do. I’ve only used the camera + the lens mentioned above twice, and I must say that I really like the images produced by the camera and the lens! This camera and kit lens have been given to my daughter in the pictures for her personal development and appreciation for photography. If you are planning to buy this camera with or without the kit lens, I think you’ll have a great time with it!!! I do wish the camera also came with a prime lens. Now, I’m doing my research on a prime lens at a reasonable/affordable price for this camera. My eyeballs hurt just looking at the price tags.
