Shot the ZFC with the 28mm SE, 16-50, and finally the best: 50mm f/1.8 S for about 4 years. The 50 becomes a 75mm equivalent on APS-C. This sounds like a limitation but the prime lenses forced me to frame tighter and actually commit. Most of my best work came out of that constraint. I was seeing past what the 16-50 could do, so it was a natural lens evolution -> don’t skill your growth. Buy the lenses, learn the ZFC.I shoot black and white, mostly glass reflections where interior light and exterior environment stack on top of each other. The sensor has no business being this good for that. The attached photo has five tonal layers happening at once and nothing fell apart.Battery life is bad for all day work (3,000+ shots). Buy spares, although pricey. The retro dials aren’t a gimmick… they slow you down in a way that matters. Learn your exposure triangle. Ditch the automatic habit, ditch the lens zoom. Adjust the dials, move around.I’m planning to upgrade to the ZF because I can see the dynamic range I’m leaving on the table now. But that’s the point. This camera taught me to see it. I believe I can push my work harder on a Full Frame, but overall the ZFC has everything you need at an affordable price. Get one and shoot, have fun. The prime lenses carry over to the full frame if you ever feel like your eye is seeing past the camera. But don’t underestimate it -> there is so much you can do to continue improving.

Compact and powerful

I chose this camera for its size (compact) and mirrorless tech. I have been using a Nikon D7200 for years so am accustomed to the menu options. I like the higher ISO capability and especially like the live view screen for composing an image from a low point of view. I mostly compose images through the viewfinder and do find it inconvenient to have to open the screen to check my work, but I'm learning to trust the camera more in a priority mode. I am using the Auto mode more than my D7200 and like the results. The compact size of the Z fc allows me to take it along more than a larger camera and I much prefer it to a phone camera.

Nice camera, but the standard lenses are too big and bulky. Waiting for the Zfc 2. WIthout the script on the front.

The Nikon FM and FM2 were my favorite cameras of all time, and I have owned just about everything in the past 50 years. They were simple and reliable. This camera replicates some of that vibe.The standard lenses are too big and ugly. I own both the standard zoom and the 28mm SE. They need to be put on a serious diet. My other system is based on the Fujifilm X-T5 (my second favorite). Look at what they did with the "Fujicrons" and you will see what is possible. The "Zfc" scripting on the front just makes it look cheap. Overall, for me, I think that the design is about 80% satisfactory.

New to digital camers

I am still getting used to a digital camera and it's quirks after decades of a 35mm film camera. I do miss going into a darkroom to develop my own pictures. It's a good camera though and I just need more ti.e with it. To get used to it.

A Great Buy For A Great Camera

This is an absolutely an beautiful camera. It's the same size and weight as my beloved FM2, which I used all through school and way after. I love the "retro" look, while it still retains most all of the modern digital features. Adding the FTZ II lens adapter, I can still use quite a selection of my F-mount autofocus lenses. Most impressive is the price; around $1100 for the camera and lens is truly a great buy. I'm loving mine!

I am a proud owner of Nikon FM and I recently discovered the Nikon Z fc! It was a surprise for me this camera and I bought it recently. It’s a perfect camera which arise memories from the past! Thanks a lot Nikon for this masterpiece!!! I am excited to use again a great camera instead of iphone! I strongly recommend Nikon Z fc to all who love the art of photography!!

The zfc is the camera I take with me when I don’t feel like carrying around my z9, camera is extremely light weight, and it takes excellent pictures. Highly recommended !
