    Z8 - Hot stuff!

Posted by Alan Housel on June 15, 2023

Super Fast! I’ve been pleased with my first batch of images with the 200-500mm @ f5.6. (Wide open) I’ve been getting very sharp results with the FTZ II. Only drawback is that now I want to buy a bunch of Nikkor Z lenses. If you plan on shooting all day long on a consistent basis, you may want to get the Z9, instead. I like the size and weight of the Z8, so I can live with the smaller batteries. Overall, exactly what I wanted, thanks Nikon!

    Nikon has done it again!

Posted by Barry Braunstein on June 15, 2023

I've been using my D850 since it was announced and it was the best Nikon camera I've ever owned (I started with an FTN many years ago). I thought it would be hard for Nikon to improve on it, but they have. The Z8 now takes that crown. Fast, a bit lighter/smaller than the D850 and yet still feels great in the hand (one of the things I love most about Nikon is the ergonomics - it just feels right!). And the files are gorgeous! What do I wish for? Better explanation of how to set up the camera - yes, I know it's new and there are plenty of 3rd party videos, books/tutorials out there (and it continues to grow) but the documentation could be a bit more comprehensive. But they're not alone in this regard. Have now switched entirely to mirrorless and loving it - and the Z lenses are better than the F mount. Nikon has done it again!

    A Worthy `sibling' to the Z9!

Posted by Norman Solomon on June 15, 2023

Excellent camera-a worthy `sibling' to the Z9 and successor to the Z72.. Great resolution and ease of use.A couple of suggestions:1. Restore the exposure delay Custom setting (yes, the self timer can be used instead but having the delay timer in the menu is a bit more straightforward)2. It would help if Nikon makes further efforts to provide information to vendors so that aftermarket equipment - such as the L bracket-became available at roughly the same time as the camera launch.Thank You!

    Love My New Z8!

Posted by Larry Huck on June 15, 2023

All I would like to say is that my new Z8 is a wonderful camera!! I've had the D850 since it came out, but I will never use it again unless my Z8 breaks. I mostly shoot birds (all sizes & kinds), butterflies, and flowers for competitions in my camera club. The focusing is spectacular. It feels much better to hold with all my different F mount lenses. I've decided that my new Nikon100 - 400mm Zoom will be almost always on my Z8. I can't think of anything I don't like about it. The new focusing system seems to do a lot of the work for me.

    A real game-changer!

Posted by Rick Valasek on June 15, 2023

I have purchased (and used daily) the Z6, and Z6ii. Recently I've upgraded to the Z8 and it is really a game changer. I shoot quite a bit of video and the newest features are just incredible. The ability to shoot N-RAW in N-log allow me to shoot without an external monitor which makes my "run-and-gun" rig much lighter and versatile. I have also purchased the extended handgrip and love the fact that I've extended my battery life.

Finally the body I have been waiting for

Posted by Robert G on June 15, 2023

I have the Z6 and Z7ii and was happy with their performance in most situations. First time out with the Z8 and I was blown away with its performance. The 3D tracks very well and stuck tight to a duck even when other objects passed in front..

    Advanced camera in small package

Posted by STEVEN FREDERICKSON on June 15, 2023

I have used my D850 for several years and have loved the camera. In fact, I was somewhat reluctant to change because II wasn't sure Nikon would be able to top that camera. In short, it has! The auto focus is a great enhancement. I do wildlife photography and have already found I have a much better "keep" rate. I also appreciate the lighter weight of the camera and lenses when in the field. I love the camera!
