Really amazed by the mirror less camera. Quick, clear, and silent shutter.

Great upgrade for a prior dslr owner

Posted by Michael Ferrante on April 12, 2023

Upgraded from D5000 to Z7ii. Awesome upgrade. Overall I love my new Z. The camera feels professional / rugged. Whether shooting on manual or auto or anything in between, it takes a great picture. Because the resolution is so high, cropping images barely causes image quality to suffer. My greatest issue/concern is that the most delicate components are not protected. The image sensor is fully exposed when the lens is removed, making it vulnerable to dust/debris or even physical damage. With a DSLR at least the sensor is protected by the mirror. Similar is true of the rear display. With my D5000 the display flipped in to protect it. With the Z, it’s exposed all the time. I added a glass shield similar to those put on smartphones but I’m still worried. Nikon should really work on sensor protection for when lens need to be removed.

    Review

I've also owned the nikon d90, d750, d850. There has been a learning curve with the Z711. It's a great camera. I would highly recommended this camera.

    Superb upgrade!

Posted by DAVID CODY on March 25, 2023

Best camera I have owned! I have been a Nikon guy since my time in the USAF using Nikon F’s and made the move to digital in 2006 with a D70. Every upgrade has been superb and this one is no different. I love the button customization and the sensor is amazing! My DSLR is a D780 (which I still have) so I was a little afraid the size difference would be an issue but the Z7II feels great in my hands.

    Best Nikon yet!

Posted by Gilbert Wright on March 21, 2023

This is my 5th Nikon, starting with the D70s, D700, D750, D810 now Z7ii. I thought it would be an easy transition from my D750/D810, but it's been a learning curve. I was somewhat disappointed initially-I usually shoot manual/raw and the images were looking like overprocessed Jpeg's. Once I dialed in the Picture Control setting to Neutral from the default "Auto" I began to get the Nikon look I am used to. In a nutshell-there are so many new options and controls that it will take a minute to learn it, but worth it in the end. This is my first with a touchscreen and it's a lifesaver, best idea ever! Picture quality is excellent and that's using my FX lenses and the FTZ. I'm looking forward to adding a few Z-series lenses to really make it shine. Adding a handheld image to show how it handled bright sunshine/deep shadow.

New to mirrorless. Love this camera! Lots of settings to learn, but auto works great if it all becomes overwhelming. Bravo, Nikon

Great camera but a disappointment at the start

Posted by Stan Zembreski on March 18, 2023

Stepping up from the D500 to the 7ii I thought would be a great move. However I purchased from the Nikon Store a refurbished 7ii and a 28-70 f2.8 to save some money. Well, the lens was very hard to attach vs my Z100-400 so off to Nikon repair it went. I would expect that a refurbished lens would have been totally reviewed and any issues corrected before it was offered for resale. The service dept in Melville NY was without compromise and addressed the issue and had my lens back in three days. With this issue now resolved I’ll post another review after I’ve been able to put the camera through some photo sessions.

Truly Enjoy Our Nikon Z 7ii

Posted by Larry Song on March 18, 2023

It is an excellent and modern mirrorless digital camera with all the essential built-in features. Coupling with the standard Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4S lens or a Nikkor Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR lens, it becomes a must-have travel companion or even just for daily life activities. We have taken so many wonderful photos for our memories for a long time to come. We have truly enjoyed our Nikon Z 7ii.
