Nikon Z7II what a great camera
Posted by Brian Bradley on July 20, 2022
The Z 7II is a wonderful camera. Very little negative to say about. I also own the D850, and the Z7II is very similar to it in its capabilities. One thing to note: when in silent mode, the flash will not work. The display is adequate, and the controls are well laid out. If You’re used to te Nikon menu system, you’ll pick this camera up very quick. It has returned frame after frame of wonderful photos.

Firmware Updates for Auto Focus
Posted by TOMMY BRANTLEY on July 20, 2022
I have a Z6 and Z7 with the latest firmware updates as of 07-21-22, the update did wonders for the Auto Focus. Am still waiting for those same updates for my Z7II and Z6l, l would appreciate if Nikon would remember the second generation of the Z line.

Love my Z7 II
Posted by Fred Cheng on July 20, 2022
After buying the Z6 which is an amazing camera on its own, I needed higher megapixels of a Z7 II to give me the flexibility to take shots and crop in for specific post production composition while still keeping good resolution in the end result. Love the light weight but wish the battery would last longer on a charge. I change my lenses often out in the field and wish there was a way to close the shutter to protect the sensor in the process. It performs amazing and very happy with the pictures I get from this camera.

NIKON z7ii - Fastest Breakdown Ever (For Me)
Posted by Dawn Hodges on June 15, 2022
I want to say upfront that I have used Nikon products for the last 35 years and have been, for the most part, very pleased with their products.I also want to say this review is in regards to my second z7ii camera which I have had for exactly 36 days. Today, during a camera shoot and while reviewing shots on the LCD, I noticed a blue line running vertically through the right side of the recorded images in RAW and JPEG (fine*). The line runs straight through the image - TOP to BOTTOM with no breaks and no jagged edges. Looks like part of the sensor is dead and just showing a brilliant blue line through the image.I have used NIKON equipment in some of the most rugged and unforgiving places found on earth. Extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, snow, dust and mud - but I have never had one simply break down after 30 days of ownership and with no perceivable cause.I hate to give this camera only a single star because I love the product line a great deal and have experience very favorable results using the cameras. But the question that keeps rolling through my mind is: Has Nikon quality fallen down and how often these camera bodies be in the shop verses helping me make a living?! The other question, that I have never had to ask myself - Do I now need 3 Nikon cameras rather than just 2 to keep myself in business?!So, off to NIKON camera service this one goes and when it comes back and whether NIKON will honor their warranty after only 36 days is all a mystery.Very disappointing!

Best Camera Ever
Posted by Ailsa Deayton on January 25, 2022
Great camera, well worth the $$. I have been using this camera for 6 months or so now and it hasn't disappointed me. As others have mentioned, the autofocus is lacking on occasions so for that reason, I do switch between manual and auto focus modes regularly. This is a great camera for both portraits and nature photos. I also have done a great deal of night photography with this camera and it has been very impressive to see the results. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone looking to upgrade their gear or add to their gear. The BEST! :)

Incredible.

I am blown away by the clarity and color reproduction of this camera. I purchased it today along with the Z 50 1.8 S and I am so happy with this combination so far. Granted I have only been around the house taking pics of just about everything and I am very impressed! Can't wait to test it more extensively.I also own the D500 and that too is great. I haven't been disappointed with Nikon yet. Did I mention I am very happy with the purchase of the Z7 II!!!

What a gem! The Nikon Z 7II renders images that blow your socks off and is a kick-in-the-pants to use. Just delightful.

All brands feature bragging points that surpass the competition. One can go nuts comparing brands tit for tat when deciding on a new camera so I limited my list of considerations to five. 1) Does it render acute images with superior colors and tones? 2) Does its stability system allow me to use it hand-held? 3) Does it auto-focus accurately and reliably? 4) Does the exposure system measure light quantity and color temperature correctly? 5) Can I use my pre-AI and my G series Nikkors? So let’s look at why I chose a Nikon camera. Dating back to my first SLR in 1964, a Nikkomat, Nikons have brought me joy recording my own life’s journey along with the faces of many others who posed in front of them. I have not been disappointed, even with years of use and untold numbers of shutter actuations on each Nikon I have owned. And I now have a practical selection of fine Nikkors that deliver what I ask them to. Compared with Canon and Sony cameras I have had, Nikons + Nikkors always rendered colors and tones, especially skin tones, more pleasing to my eye. For me, the image a camera renders is the overriding selection criterion. No one, not even the photographer, looking at a photograph five years after its making is going to swoon over the staccato pace of shutter cycles or the camera’s Johnny-be-quick acquisition of eye focus. Though there is always color and tone input from the lens, that used to be the province of film manufacturers. Today, however, it is the camera makers’ software that defines those critical inputs. It is also the manufacturer’s software that measures light intensity and color temperature. For my preferences, Nikon and Nikkors are tops. I have no reason to jump ship to another brand. As I approach seventy years of handling cameras and taking all manner of photographs, from point and shoot candids to electron micrographs of cellular substructures, the Z 7II tops the bunch for joy of use. With age setting in I can no longer hand-hold my D700 of twelve years and I sorely miss the freedom and dexterity of composition that doing so provides. Thus the driving force for me to look for a new camera was to once again enjoy hand-held photography. Bless the Nikon engineers who developed the superb stabilization capability of the Z 7II. When using this camera, I feel exuberant. I am once again a young boy of ten with my new birthday Brownie. As then, when I pick up my new camera today, everything calls out to have its picture taken.Coupled with a Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.2 S, the Z 7II surpasses my pre-purchase expectations. How rich the colors it renders at ISO 64! Blows me away. Ergonomic? The Z 7II’s fit feels like the handshake of an old friend. It is comfortable, solid, and assuring that what I am holding will return my trust. Stable? Rock on! With the Z 7II I can hand hold 1/50 second shots with impunity and have even managed some sharp ones at 1/20 second. I also am able to hand-hold my 70-200 f/2.8 G with the FTZ. That makes me happy.Excluding auto eye focus, in my experience the Z 7II focuses quickly and accurately. However, auto eye focus (both human and pets) sometimes lags or can be altogether frustrating. It seems to have unpredictable difficulty focusing on profile view and does not recognize at all an eye in profile if the person is wearing a mask. I reverted to manual mode (not to be confused with manual focus of the lens) on many occasions. In manual mode focus is spot on every time. Auto focus mode is quick, highly accurate, and reliable as well, but that mode gives no control over what the focal point(s) cover.True to its history, Nikon made sure old Nikkors are compatible with its Z cameras. Back in 1978 I went through Nikon’s introduction of AI and was pleased then that Nikon developed a way to convert old Nikkors for use on its new cameras. And now with the FTZ adapter I can still use my pre-AI lenses and my G series Nikkors. I am most thankful the Z 7II and an FTZ allow me to keep using my all-time favorite portrait lens, a Nikkor 105mm f/2.5 K, that I bought in 1976.The catalog of optical and electronic enhancements available for today’s cameras and lenses is like the offerings of an oversized bowl of M&Ms: so many desirable thingies. I remember attending a Nikon workshop in 1978 back when automatic film advance and breakthroughs in in-camera exposure meters were the talk of the town. A classmate asked the instructor what the future holds for new developments in cameras. The reply was one word, “Electronics.” And so it has been. Today, mirrorless cameras bring new electronic wonders plus optical advances not previously possible. Thus two other major reasons for me to buy a Z 7II are to have fun with all the menu items that its electronics provide and to also benefit from the superb optics of the S line Z Nikkors.

Excellent...can't wait for more Autofocus improvements
Posted by Jeffrey w Jackson on June 23, 2021
I chose the Z7II to supplement my D850 and D500. I shoot birds, wildlife, travel, street photography...the Z7Ii works wonderfully with all types...with an exception for birds in flight...I own several Z7ii bodies as I travel to Africa with multiple lenses...the Z7ii paired with the Mirrorless 24-70 or 70-200mm works great. I also use Zeiss Otus lenses, which work well with the Z7ii and the adapter...The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is the camera still lacks in its Auto Focus of birds in flight. I am a convert to mirrorless but use it to supplement my D500 and D850.
