GREAT camera !!!

Love it! The perfect mirrorless camera. Sharp images, great autofocus. Only one camera better than the Nikon Z7II and that's my Z9.

Nikon z7II

All good. I think autofocus eye detection still needs improvement. Familiarization taking sometime. Otherwise no complaints.

Technological Marvel but not for beginners
Posted by Al Sunshine on July 20, 2022
Technological Marvel that’s feature rich and more compact than conventional Dslr’s but comes with a pretty good learning curve.Lots of options for image Managment and manipulation for most every need. But with all the options, it can also be confusing and unfortunately too easy to shoot bad images until settings are corrected.Auto focus is still less than optimum and not up to the precision of the older Dslrs.Image quality can be exceptional once the human component catch’s up with this highly advanced digital imaging device. While the Ftz mechanically couples F Nikkor lenses nicely, many of my older lenses are very slow to focus and the Ftz adapters do potentially make for a little cludgey system. But with the excellent state of the art Z lenses, the Z7II works much better .Overall, an excellent digital Imazing device capable of very good images in a compact body.

z7ll Produces wonderful images with some power/battery problems
Posted by Dennis Gray on July 20, 2022
Nikon z7ll Ser.No. 3007668 MB-N11 Ser. No. 2014265. Version 1.40I use this z7ll and grip with 70/200, f2.8 100/400 f4.5/5.6, f1.8 85, 1.8 50mm and both a 1.4 and a 2x TX. I shoot primarlily historic and vintage automotive races for both web and print publications. My first Nikon was a Nikon F purchased in I think 1958 or maybe 1959. I have used Nikons professiobally erver since.I hve found the z7ll to produce amazingly sharp images with good contrast and color. The auto focus for the most part functions as advertised. I could wish for a better follow focus update sometime soon. The follow focus on the z9 is far better. Note: I have z9 on order but who knows when that may be deivered. Now to my one complaint on the z7ll. August of 2021 shooting on asignment the camerta died. I turned the power off and rebooted the camera came back to life. Less then twenty exposures later it died again. Totally dead as thogh I had removed all the batteries. I got back to my car removed the batteries and replaced them with freshly charged batteries. The batteries I removed were freshly chaerged and both showed over 95% charge that morning. I had made fewer the 200 exposures. The fresh batteries made no difference. Still dead. I looked up the symptoms on a google search and low and behold there were a number of z7ll cameras with the same problem. The cure or short term fix was to remove the grip place a sigle battery in the body turn the camera on and make a number of exposures. Remove the single battery and reattach the grip with batteries and turn the camera back on. Viola…It powered up and continued to work the rest of the week. No problems. In reading through the goggle search results it appears this fixes the problem. On my return home I contacted Nikon to be told they had never heard of this before. Maybe they don’t do google searches for z7ll problems? In any event I repeat this procedure every few weeks and have not had any follow on problems. Once I frecieve the z9 I’ll ship my z7ll back to Nikon for them to take a look. Until then I don not want to lose the camera for extended weeks while it is off being looked at. Is the problem the body or the grip? Who knows. The images continue to amaze.

Focus, focus, focus - more clicks, fewer misses
Posted by Sheila E Griffie on July 20, 2022
I have been shooting with NIKONs for more than 37 years. First, film (of course). I moved to digital with my D100. Then D200, D700 and finally, D800 and D750 I loved them all - each a bit different/more advanced, more to learn … then new lenses to buy. Now, I have the Z7 II and I’m using only native lenses - The kit 24-70 F4 plus 4 more. I love the camera! My biggest challenge is getting the focus spot on, consistently, given the shot I’m trying to get. It will take more and more practice to get better. More clicks and I expert fewer errors/misses.

As good as it gets until Nikon’s next.
Posted by JOSHUA BAUER on July 20, 2022
My only complaint is that it isn’t the mirrorless d850, which I assume the next iteration will be. That said, this camera is a marvel and handles everything from landscape to wildlife easily.

Greatest Nikons Ever
Posted by Jack Blalock on July 20, 2022
I purchased the nikon Z7ii as my first serious mirrorless camera, I have shot nikon cameras and others since 1970. It seems like a long time ago, I have witnessed my changes in this time. I remember how I felt when I left film and when to digital. I have never looked back, kind of the same thing with mirrorless, I bought the nikon Z7ii as a precursor to knowing that I had a Nikon Z9 on order. Not knowing how long I would have to wait to get one and I wanted to have a little experience before the Eagle and Pergine falcon season. I received the Nikon Z9 before Christmas (Thanks) I had about six months before my trip to Seabeck Washington. I was able to get many more shots that ever before, I think using the nikon z7ii made the learning curve less. I have shot every Pro Nikon since 1970,I can't wait to see what is next. Totally committed to Nikon.

Z7II is fabulous - needs a firmware upgrade for focus not to miss in a controlled setting.
Posted by Karen Vaisman on July 20, 2022
I love my Z7II. I also have the Z6II and Z9. The quality is stellar. I love the size and weight. The noise is not quite as good as the Z6II due to the 45 megapixel resolution in low light - but I love to be able to crop in on images. Sometimes it misses focus in a studio portrait setting using wide area large for people. That is frustrating. I guess I'm spoiled by the Z9. I'd love to see a firmware upgrade to improve focus. The Z9 has spoiled me. I would really like to see a Z9 without the video in a small form factor like the Z7II with great focus like the Z9. I tend to take both cameras when I'm out shooting nature Z9 and Z7II so I have more than one lens easily accessible with comparable picture quality. I would love them both to be the same size as the Z7II. Otherwise - Nikon is amazing - the lenses and picture / color quality is fabulous. I wish the software companies with fix the ability to see the HE* format of the Z9 so I could shoot compressed.

My best Nikon ever
Posted by Alfred Benas on July 20, 2022
I bought the z7II to pair with my z7 (always wanted a backup body). The z7II is my workhorse body. I thought that the d810 would be my last camera, but decided to try mirrorless for a lighter kit. I was not disappointed; the z7's are light, sturdy, and professional grade. The colors are outstanding. I'm an old style still photographer so some of the bells & whistles are not used that much, but I print alot and the results are amazing. BTW, I have the 24-70mm & 14-30mm f/4 zooms ... where is the 70-200mm f/4 zoom?
