Great Camera for my Needs and Beyond
Posted by Bill Bill on July 20, 2022
Excellent Image quality, Great dynamic range. I don't do BIF The Focusing is just fine for my needs.Would I like to see some improvements? Sure, but this is a great camera and properly set up you can do almost anything with it. I don't need a Z9, but I may be tempted on a Z8 if you ever comes to market with the Z7II as a second. I have used Nikon equipment since the 70's and have always been happy them them.

I wanted a lighter camera so it fits the bill. I still like my 850 better.

A Major Step Up
Posted by Richard Obregon on July 20, 2022
The first few months with my Z7II I used my F mount gold ring lenses. The image quality of this combination was a major step up from my D3s and D810. A few months later I was able to purchase my two main kit lenses the Z 14-24mm f 2.8 S and the Z 70-20mm f2.8 S. These Z lenses in combination with the Z7II body have made my images clearer, sharper and more detailed that any camera/ lens combination I have ever used. I know that my wide shots will be sharp edge to edge. My telephoto shots are clear and clean without any distortion. And I have no complaints about the video I shot with both lenses. The processing and programmability of the Z7II is a major step up for me. I hope that Nikon continues to add firmware updates for this camera. Little by little the autofocus keeps improving. I would highly recommend the Z7II for anyone wanting to upgrade.

Best camera I have ever owned
Posted by Michael Weiss on July 20, 2022
Not a professional photographer but I have been using Nikon equipment since the early 1970s for my amateur outings. Now retired I finally treated myself to a top of the line model. It was well worth the wait. Tough learning curve with the extensive menu system but I can now make the camera work for me.

Great Camera very pleased
Posted by Gary Rather on July 20, 2022
I had a D500 and a D850.I then bought a Z7II. Extremely happy with the camera.I was using the D500 for my action photos. The D850 was sitting on the sidelinesBut then Nikon came out with the Z9.I sold my D500 and using the Z9 for the action stuff. But when just walking around. Or none high speed photos.I grab the Z7IIMy D850 is still holding space in the camera bag

Awesome Landscape Camera
Posted by ®andyA ®andyA on July 20, 2022
I bought my Z7ii (Oct 2021) a year after getting the Z6ii (Nov 2020). The higher MP resolution was the biggest factor and it hasn't disappointed. Much greater detail and the ability to crop in more have been great. I use this camera as my main landscape, cityscape, and astrophotography camera and it's been an absolute joy to use.But with all that said above, I echo some of the criticisms from other reviewers. Focus accuracy does miss occasionally - even when the focus box tells you it has achieved focus, even on FW 1.40. I have worked around it, by taking multiple pics to give me the opportunity to pick the best exposure. But it would be great to have better focus accuracy. Also, I feel that focus acquisition, subject tracking, and focus tracking improvements are still not what I would expect for a camera with twice the processing power of the Gen1 Z6/7. Firmware 1.40 did provide some improvement in some of those features, so kudos to the Nikon programmers. But, again, with twice the processing power, I feel we would have seen a much more significant performance improvement over the Gen1 bodies.I rated this a 4-star, but if I could give it a more accurate rating it would be a 4.5-star.

Nice, small and fast camera - just firmware upgrade necessary
Posted by Martin E Kristen on July 20, 2022
I'm half professional, working with Nikon products since the 1970s, came from D850/D500 to the first mirrorless Z7 II and now also the Z9. The Z7 II is a handy small camera with a lot of functions and an impressive speed. Happy that I can also use all my F-mount lenses, of which I own many. The only real problem for me are the differences in the menu between Z7 II and Z 9 - differences I not really understand. I would give 5 stars if the firmware of the two cameras would be similar. I'm missing the Shooting and Customs menu banks like in the Z9. A really missing function would be "Recall shooting functions (hold)" when assigning the function buttons. Firmware 2.0 probably ? But all in all a nice, small and fast camera
