Z 7II

Decided to go mirrorless when I accidentally trashed my D7200. Stretched the retirement budget to the max to get the Z7 II, but glad I did. Over 90% of my photography is on the trail using a 300mm f4 on a TC-20EII with an FTZ adapter to capture anything from bugs to birds. That effective f8 combo often requires high ISO. Coupling that with major cropping for small insects could make grain an issue. However, the Z7 II gives me very acceptable grain and detail shooting to ISO 12000 when coupled with denoise software. I knocked off one star, though, because autofocus struggles with that f8 lens setup. The Z7's IBIS has proven very useful for hand-holding the above setup and has allowed me to take my 25-year-old 500mm f8 Reflex Nikkor.out of mothballs. That all-manual lens was very difficult to use without a tripod, but the soft painterly effect it can give in the right situations. Now I can use it with the FTZ when I want a break from my usual routine. IBIS can't help with subject movement, but it opens up a whole new set of creative possibilities. I've attached a couple of those shots taken at 1/250 sec.

Excellent for printed circuit board (PCB) photography using either the NIKKOR Z MC 50mm or 105mm macro lens.

I love this camera and that I can use my old lenses with the adapter. I'm just having a little trouble with the focus but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

I've been shooting with Nikons since 1971. This has to be the most sophisticated camera body I have owned. As always, I am shooting with Nikon glass and I love the results. I just bought a few months ago and have not spent as much time as I would like with it, so I am still learning the ins and outs of it. I've heard Nikon has incorporated AI in later bodies for better autofocus and the Z8 and Z9 seem to be better for videos, which I don't do.

Enjoying the camera. Just have to learn how to use properly. Learning is fun,it will come to me.

Mine is permanently mounted on an old Nikon PF-3 copy stand with PG-2 Focusing Stage and a Z MC105 f2.8S lens. Its sole purpose is digital scanning and copy work. Thus far, there have been no issues... I am tethered to a Mac and manually focusing.

Bought a refurbished Nikon Z7ii and very happy with my experience. I ordered the camera around noon and the camera showed up at my door the next day! All accessories were brand new including battery and the camera body is in perfect condition with no cosmetic flaws. The shutter count was 3 when I received the camera! The camera body is nice sized not too big or small and I enjoy the tilt screen instead of flid out tilt but it would be nice if it did both. The auto focus works fine especially for the age of the camera but im sure with faster subjects it could struggle. I took some long exposer shots and after inspecting found signs of hot pixels and I was super worried thinking I got a bad sensor but after pixel mapping they went away, I also checked my Nikon Zr and it had a few hot pixels that were fixed with a pixel mapping so it is probably totally normal for a few to be like that. Solid deal on Nikon refurbished would recommend to anyone wanting to save a buck.

I was a longtime Nikon photographer. Left for Sony because of their advanced auto focus and choice of lens. I returned to Nikon for the better color science. Only one project so far ( Pinnacles National Park ) with my Z7ii. Very glad I switched back because of the better low light performance and the true color mapping.

Upgraded fromD500. Was uncertain about transition from optical to electronic viewfinder. However after singing the EVF I much prefer the photo experience as what you see is what you get. For portraits and landscape the focus is spot on. I also bought the 40f2 lens and the FTZii adapter. My f Mount FX lenses work great. Now just need to upgrade my landscape DX 10-24 f4 lens. So far love the Z7ii experience.
