Nikon Z7 with FTZ adapter and 28-300mm FX lens
Posted by KenRad on January 1, 2019
I took the Z7 to the Amazon on a cruise, and it performed flawlessly. I also had my D850 and they were comparable, although the Z7 was a bit lighter.

This is the Nikon camera I always wanted!
Posted by HandsoffmyNikon on January 1, 2019
I have owned a D90, D300s, and D7200. I have wanted WYSIWYG EVF from the start. The Z7 is everything I´ve ever dreamed of having- from the beautiful colors, the high resolution, incredible low light capabilities, and best of all being able to use all of my F mount lenses with the FTZ adapter. BTW, the 24-70mm F/4 ´´kit´´ lens is a steal if you buy it with the camera body, and it is a joy to use. Also, I like the way that Nikon chose to implement ´´DX´´ shooting with this camera- it´s like having both a DX and FX camera- the EVF experience is the same in either mode. This camera has made photography fun again! I can´t wait to try out some new ´´S´´ series lenses.....

Looking Good So Far
Posted by JimLosAltos on January 1, 2019
Early days, but my first impressions are extremely positive. Handling, ergonomics are excellent. Image quality good. FTZ worked well with 105mm f1.4. Love addition of three user settings that handle both still and video. I have yet to do a tough test with autofocus, whose issues are well documented. Will see how it works with the new 500mm PF at a pro tennis event in March. High hopes! Fingers crossed that upcoming 70-200 is super.

Incredible camera
Posted by Lightwiz on January 1, 2019
I am an NPS member and my other camera is a D5. My initial concern was that I would not like using a menu driven camera as I love all the external controls on the D5. As it turns out I can actually change some of the settings more quickly on the Z7 than the D5. There is enough written about image quality, etc. that I don´t need to belabor the obvious. The real stunner for me was how well the camera VR and the lens VR work together. I am handholding 500mm lenses and getting tack sharp images at 1/500th shutter speed! It´s something I only do when there is not a support option but it has sure improved my success rate. The other surprise was the f/4 24-70mm kit lens. It´s close focusing capability is so good I have almost retired my 105mm Macro.
Now if only they would emulate Canon and introduce a drop in filter lens adapter for FX lenses. -

Nikon Z7 is just amazing!
Posted by GuyGabriel on January 1, 2019
So far, I´m very pleased with the performance of the new Z7. I absolutely love the the in-body-image stabilization that even works well with non-VR lenses. Regrettably, I did not purchase it with the 24-70mm f/4 S-lens. I purchased it only with the FTZ adapter because I have so many F-mount lenses. Nevertheless, the camera performs very well though I have noticed that some of the lenses focus faster than others. I´m looking forward to the upcoming release of the 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8 S-line lenses. The EVF is outstanding, and I really like that one can see the exposure as you make changes directly through the viewfinder.

Excellent alternative to large DSLR
Posted by Bwhast on January 1, 2019
The Z7 arrives at a perfect time for me. I am an amateur photographer, but have been traveling much more and had been waiting for a mirrorless -- and hence more portable -- full frame Nikon. The transition to the Z7 has been painless because I have worked with Nikon DSLR´s for the past 10 years. The resolution is fantastic, and I very much appreciate the touch-to-focus-and-shoot touchscreen. I´ve been very impressed as well by the in-body 5-axis image stabilization. This has enabled me to take excellent shots in low light.

Z7, the Nikon full-frame I was waiting for...
Posted by bchalifour on January 1, 2019
I have had Nikons since my last day of highschool, used and new. My first pro-line one was an F2 that I bought at 20, I still have it and occasionally use it. I have used all top Nikons from S (for the fun of it as far as the ´´S´´ series is concerned, I am not that old!) to D4 (I have not used a D5 but I assume it is not far from the D4). For the past years I have used a Nikon for high-res files (D850) and a Fuji X-Pro 2 for daily use. I was waiting for a mirrorless to upgrade, and here it came. The Z7 ideally combine both (D850 and X-Pro 2). Obviously, as far as I am concerned mirrorless cameras are the future (control of exposure in real time, possibility of changing the ratio of the image (I often use a square format and I need to make my decisions when I shoot; no cropping allowed in post-production unless for lesser works), possibility of viewing your image in black and white in the viewfinder). I also photograph dance, theater, concerts: being able to photograph completely silently and to check my images and settings in the viewfinder without annoying the audience on both sides of me and behind me is a real plus for me. Respect is what drives quality. Speaking of quality, the image quality is there as usual with Nikon (one exception that was corrected by Adobe though : I use Photoshop CC and the default settings in ACR (Adobe Camera Raw processing software) for the NEF files were at first such that the blues were intensely saturated. It was corrected with the recent update and a little tweak on my part). Another great plus is the in-camera image -stabilization: it works magnificently. I was able to take images , handheld, at 1/8th and 1/15s almost impossible with the D800. And lastly, but important when one spends a lot of time with one´s camera : the ergonomy and the weight of the camera make it very user-friendly (more than my previous Ds, except the 750 maybe). And the cherry on the cake for me (the reason why I have loved my X-Pro 2 and I used Leicas in the past) : the sound of the shutter (silly maybe but part of the delight of photographing) ...and the possibility to use the noiseless electronic shutter.

Powerful image making tool
Posted by fill on January 1, 2019
It took awhile for me to get use to finding and using the controls. Took some patience on my part to learn where everything is located. The ´´i´ button is awesome. Works really well with the new ´´S´´ lenses, but performs well with my older AF-S glass using the FTZ adapter.

My new Z7
Posted by Prez on January 1, 2019
First of all I am a 71 year old amateur photographer that loves to take pictures of my grandkids and the places that we travel as we go all over the North America continent as President of Family Motor Coach Association (world´s largest non profit RV Association). My old camera was a Nikon D700. The new Z7 is so much lighter and compact from the D700 that it is almost unreal. I have used all of my old lens and they all work fine. The VR that is built in to the Z7 is amazing. I am in love with this camera !!
