A Powerhouse In a Small Camera

Posted by David Elliott on May 9, 2021

I love it! During this pandemic period I hike a lot and I needed a smaller & lighter camera to take with me other than my D850. I purchased the converter and shoot with my DSLR lenses. They both work together seamlessly, and produce sharp images. The camera is easy to operate and the 2 SD card slots is a great benefit and ensures me of a lot of shooting.

    Z5

Posted by STEVE LAUTENSCHLAGER on May 9, 2021

I appreciate the image quality of the Z5. I really like the simplicity of the Z5. No more mirror box, focus module, prism. Simple. Because it focuses off the sensor, even my F mount lenses focus more precisely. Focus peaking with my manual focus 40 year old lenses is pretty sweet too. The update ability, because the Z5 is a computer with an image sensor is pretty cool. Image sensor cleaning/ dust removal is pretty easy with the sensor out in front of the body. My DSLR hasn't seen any action since I received my Z5. I'm a big fan & very impressed!

    Great camera.

Lovely camera which I use a lot. It's much lighter and more compact than my D750 (which I also like.) The lens is the 24-200mm which is very good. I don't have much experience at low light levels, yet. The menu features are similar to the D750 so the transition was easy. Disappointment? The battery, while identical in shape and size to previous batteries, is so new the older batteries won't function with the Z5. The EN-EL15C is the only battery that works with it. I also had an off-brand flash unit that worked fine with the D750 but doesn't with this one. Overall, it's a great camera and I love it.

Great Quality at a great price!

Posted by Kevin Hawkins on May 9, 2021

I REALLY like my Z5! A lot of camera for the money. If you shoot stills, this camera performs perfectly for me. I do not mind the cropped video, because the way I shoot, I like the longer reach of my lenses. This camera produces images as good as my Z6 with the exception of ISO 12000 and above. This is a perfect second camera for me. And the frame rate is plenty! Do not hesitate to buy this camera!

    Not my first Nikon!

Posted by Donald Gillikin on May 9, 2021

I couldn't be happier with the Z5. My first Nikon was the F3 then the F4 then numerous digital models ending with a D750. I gave a hard look to the first Z's but held off however when I saw the Z5 and all the glowing reviews, I made the jump and traded the D750 for the Z5 along with the 24-70mm F4. What I now look forward to is seeing the 24-105mm for the Z as it's what I've been happiest using since my early film days. I shoot landscapes and street mostly. I couldn't be happier!

Had for almost 8 months now.

Posted by Zair Paczkowski on May 9, 2021

I have had my Z5 for about 8 months now. Moved over from using an Olympus om-d em 5 mark II. The ergonomics and button layout are more comfortable on the Z5 and the image quality is amazing. I have been using the FTZ adapter to use my F mount lenses, 24mm F1.4, 35mm F1.4, and 60mm F2.8 Macro and they all work great on the Z5.

    A Great Camera

Posted by PETER KLEINSCHMIDT on May 9, 2021

The Z system is fantastic because the lenses are incredibly sharp creating brilliant images. I am a full-time portrait and event photographer and bought the Z5 as a backup to my Z6ii and switch effortlessly between them. The Z system is second to none but it is nothing like the DSLRs and takes a bit of studying the manual and YouTube videos (which there are many) to get to where you need it. It's fun to use and wonderfully light.

Excellent camera with no affordable lens to add!!

Posted by Paul Martin on May 9, 2021

Excellent easy to use camera. The only draw back. Lens are way too expensive!! I can not afford any z lenses!!! Why??? 1300 for camera. 1000 for lens to go on it!!!! It’s a shame no reason for them to be that expensive. If you build a camera you should have affordable lens to buy. No wonder your sales are down .
