Easily Makes Use of Your Older Lens

The adapter is an excellent, ergonomic tool for Nikon lens. It doesn´t add that much weight to the camera.

good but, major design flaw
Posted by WonderFlea on March 12, 2019
First off I will add that the FTZ does what it´s advertised to do. It will adapt F mount lenses to a Z mount body (hence the FTZ mount adapter name, I think they spent more time figuring out what they would call it than into its design).
Focus, tracking, and image stabilization seem to work as you would expect.
Not many reviews on here have addressed the design flaw. Nikon decided to put a tri/monopod mount on the adapter. Why? If we are going to use a long lens it likely already has a shoe on it to attach to a tri/monopod. The Z6/7 has a shoe on it to attach to a tri/monopod. Why put it on the FTZ adapter? If anything, make it something that can detach from the adapter. Having the large hunk of plastic makes it tough to have quick release plates or throws off the balance with the lenses.
Thankfully I have a wonderful L bracket that will work with it. -

FTZ Adapter
Posted by Muelly on March 12, 2019
Works pretty good for the most part. I have several AIS lenses that work very well on the Z6 with the FTZ adapted. I have a 100-300 F5.6 zoom that I owned for thirty years. Since I started using it with the Z6 and the FTZ I have gotten more use from it then in the previous thirty years. Use a tripod and the 200% magnification to focus and it produces very good results.
However, I have a Tamron 16-300 zoom that does not integrate very well automatically. It´s quite a sharp lens but it will not focus smoothly. Lots of hunting and clicking and clacking. Occasionally it will lock into an acceptable focus, but not often. I tried all of the various focus modes with no better results.
I have used my Nikon 55-200 DX F4-5.6 zoom with very good results. Any of my Nikon lenses seem to work fine. A little slow to focus sometimes, but not often.
Overall, a great investment. Being able to use all of my older Nikkor lenses on the Z6 is what convinced me to go with the Z series. -

The FTZ adaptor works seamlessly with all of my Nikon Lenses. The adaptor is reason I added a Z6 to my kit and I have not been disappointed.

Works Perfectly!!!
Posted by ExtravagantExposures on March 12, 2019
I recently purchased a new Nikon Z7 mirrorless camera with a FTZ adapter to replace my well-used D750 before taking a month long trip to Africa. The D750 had lots of miles on it and I didn´t want to take the chance of a failure in a dusty, hot environment. The Z7 performed flawlessly and I believe I took some of my best photos ever with it. Aside from a few ounces of extra weight, the FTZ adapter worked as though it was an integral part of the camera and was compatible with all my lenses from my small primes to my 500mm telephoto (both Nikon and Sigma). If you are thinking about going mirrorless and have already invested in Nikon gear then you should seriously consider this amazing 46MP combination.

Works without a flaw
Posted by BillH on March 12, 2019
All of my F mount lenses, including non-Nikon, work great. Even my DX lenses work very well since the Z6 automatically switches to DX mode and scales the image to the sceen. Lenses without a motor are auto focus on the FTZ, but since the Z6 has focus peaking, manual focus is easy now.

Nikon nailed the adapter
Posted by JMtheNikonguy on March 12, 2019
When I first heard that an adapter would be required to use my Nikon lenses with the new mirrorless bodies I was disappointed because, for me, mirrorless means smaller and lighter. However, now that I have used the adapter, I have found that it is a non-issue. It works perfectly with all my lenses and the size and weight is a non factor. It extends out from the body just slightly more than the grip and it actually looks good! It´s a good system and I will have no problem using my f lens for the foreseeable future.
